Album Notes

Singer-songwriter Cathy Bollinger has been working with children through music for more than 20 years. Beloved by her young audience, she holds songwriting workshops, practices music therapy and performs. Bollinger, who is available for freelance work, has been commissioned to write and sing for a variety of projects, including: - a promotional song for the island of St. Thomas; - a promotional jingle for Piedmont Virginia Community College; - songs and sounds to help Chinese students learn English; - songs supporting children learning to write; - songs emphasizing sounds and words used specifically in speech therapy. Bollinger received her Master of Arts in creative arts therapy from Drexel University College of Medicine (formerly Hahnemann Medical School) in Pennsylvania, and can often be found in the classroom, singing with preschool and elementary audiences. Toddlin’ Tunes was her sixth CD. She then met Elly Tucker (MEd in Counseling)in making her seventh CD, MY TURN YOUR TURN: Songs for Building Social Skills. Elly, her son Josh, who has autism and Elly's husband helped in the creation of that CD. The partnership of Cathy and Elly continued into Alphabet Jam: Songs and Rhymes to Build Early Reading Skills, and now in the making of another brand new one, sure to attract all of the kids, parents, and teachers who have made Cathy Bollinger a household name and all of those soon to hear it. Cathy Bollinger lives in Charlottesville, Virginia, with her husband, Bob, and their three children, Ross, Will and Kate. Elly Tucker lives in Charlottesville VA with her husband Bill and their son, Josh and daughter Dory (now in school at Virginia Tech)

Thank you so much for your new CD. It's wonderful! I especially appreciate the accuracy of short vowel sounds. Other artists' attempts have confused children who struggle to discriminate the sounds. I'd like to purchase one CD per school (13 total).

Cathy Bollinger's Performance Sparkles in Fun Approach to Learning Alphabet Sou
author: Booklist Magazine
Singer Cathy Bollinger encourages youngsters to view the alphabet not as a daunting puzzle or dull necessity, but more like an overstuffed toy box. These 36 songs and rhymes (and Bollinger’s sparkling performance) bring out the fun in each letter, spurring imaginative play by example. The simple songs are just silly enough to give early learners lots of crunchy fun to sink their teeth into. Each letter of the alphabet is represented. Additional material on this outstanding CD concentrates on vowels—both individually and as a “family”—one selection even covers the special case of the final y. —Paul Shackman
