notes
Cassandre McKinley introduces her sound with a refreshing, daring flare by including six original jazz compositions on her debut release.
Creative and diverse, the album shows off Cassandre's soulful R&B roots on several tracks.
Originally a writing project, this CD took on a life of it's own when so many urged Cassandre and co-writer Michael Cardoza to record thier compositions.
Several of the the songs rang true of long ago with a nostalgic essence that had many convinced that they were written in the 1930's or 40's.
Others, such as "Watch Yourself Go By" and "Right In Front Of You" are clearly, more contemporary with a "pop/R&B" feel making for great cross-over potential.
The musicianship is the very best.
Featured on alto sax and flute is Dick Johnson - internationally known jazz artist and leader of the Artie Shaw Orchestra.
Also featured is Thomas Hebb (bass), Gary Johnson (drums), Phil Person (trumpet) and Eric Bindman (violin).
It's one album you'll listen to over and over again!

This will soon be a collectors item!
author: AndrewSInce hearing Cassandre's latest releases, I decided to buy this one - her first. Now, I can hear all of the reasons why she is becoming so popular. She's was always a great singer which is evident on this recording - but the way her voice has mellowed and matured since this then, with a much deeper and richer sound - I'm glad I have the collection of her CDs. You should have it too.
CDs for everyone!
author: Paul M.If I could, I would buy one for everyone I know! It'sa sweet surprise of a CD! If you like to try something new but hate to be disappointed..buy this one! Every single song, note, tone, lyric is performed beautifully. There are lots of singers...NOT ONE compares to Cassandre! Not to mention - what a KNOCKOUT!
A sensitive and sexy CD!
author: RandyI really have enjoyed this CD. I never considered myself a fan of Jazz until I bought Cassandre's album and now, she has convinced me, through her recordings, that there is much more to Jazz than the melody and style. I've discovered that it's possible to "feel" music. Cassandre's deep and lovely voice and the way she approaches these songs... well, it's simply intoxicating! You have to hear (and feel) to believe!
