notes
"Waiting For Your Letter" is the second release from LA-based singer/songwriter Cary Brothers, who gained national attention with his song "Blue Eyes," which was featured on the Grammy Award-winning, Platinum-selling GARDEN STATE soundtrack.
PRESS/REVIEWS
"(The) five track collection of songs builds on the strength of the first with a diversity of sounds that should broaden his appeal beyond the college rock ambience the title track exudes. Of particular note is the lingering folkish 'Loneliest Girl in the World' and the hair raising 'Forget About You' which evokes Pete Yorn and Nick Drake at one and the same time. The nod to eighties British pop production of the EP serves only to distinguish it rather than blight it - thoroughly recommended."(8 out of 10)" Americana UK - Aug. 2005
"Stunning... Buzz-worthy....5 Stars (Highest Rating)" Discovering Artists - Oct. 2005
BIO
A native of Nashville, TN, Cary has been writing and performing music since he got his first guitar at thirteen. His influences include early R.E.M., Brit Pop (from The Stone Roses to Radiohead), acoustic folk (Simon & Garfunkel and Nick Drake to Badly Drawn Boy), and a healthy dash of 80's New Wave.
Four years ago, Cary was spotted playing at an open mic by acclaimed LA troubadour Gary Jules, who subsequently began booking Cary at The Hotel Café in Hollywood, where Cary has become a regular among a group of some of LA's best up and coming talent. Cary will be hitting the road in September and October 2005 as part of the Hotel Cafe National Tour.
BILLBOARD: September, 2004 Featured artist in the
"Breaking and Entering" column: "alongside artists like Pete Yorn, (Brothers is) one of the emerging acoustic talents in Los Angeles... If he'd been old enough in the late 60's, the singer/songwriter probably would've grabbed a few rounds with a young David Crosby or shared a smoke with Joni Mitchell after an appearance together at a local coffeehouse..."
