Philadelphia’s best kept secret is out of the bag! Carol Riddick is releasing her solo debut album Moments Like This for all the world to hear.

The sultry singer/songwriter has graced stages from her hometown of Philadelphia to across the globe, winning fans and admirers with her extraordinary voice. Highly regarded in the music community for her vocal dexterity, mesmerizing performances, and genuinely warm personality, Carol Riddick’s time is now.

Born and raised in South Philadelphia, music has been a part of her life since she was a teenager. It was in her early adulthood that the industry took notice of her vocal talent when she got her start touring with Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff. Since then Carol has blessed the tracks of many notable artists. She is featured on records by Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott, Norman Brown, and Kindred. Most recently her distinct vocal delivery can be heard on Musiq’s “Soulstar”, the title track on his multi-platinum album.

“I so love sharing my gift of music and creativity with others. It’s amazing to have worked with such stellar artists and vocalists like I have. I am blessed to have been able to work on beautiful music with some of the most talented musicians in the universe.” Yet even while working with the industries finest, Carol always dreamed of sharing her own music. Now, with the release of her debut album, Carol has evolved into an artist in her own right.

After partnering with Axis Music Group, a Philadelphia-based record company, Carol spent the majority of 2005 writing material for her project. Moreover, Carol creatively spearheaded her debut album. What some may consider a huge undertaking for an artist came natural to Carol who co-produced and co-wrote the majority of tunes on Moments Like This. While penning her lyrics, Carol drew inspiration from her loving family and an unyielding quest for living her dreams. Musically, it was imperative to deliver a stellar live sound. To achieve this goal, she collaborated with Grammy award winning producers and songwriters including James Poyser (Erykah Badu, The Roots), Anthony Bell (Jill Scott, Jewel), and Carvin Haggins & Ivan Barias (Musiq, Faith Evans). Carol’s fondness for the Philly International and Motown recordings she grew up on is reflected in Moments Like This which carries on the tradition of music that moves people. The album is laced with live instrumentation and purely soulful vocals; it is simply music for the grown and sexy. Highlights include a song dedicated to her daughter entitled “All I Wanna Be (Krystal)”, the women’s anthem “Brown Eyed Girl”, and the hit single “You Better Not Hurt Me”.

I poured my heart and soul into this music and I hope that it touches all who hear it with that same intensity.”

    Received my CD last week in the mail and...I'm upset!!! My cd collection is pretty extensive at over 650 and uhm, Carol has pretty much created about 649 drink coasters. Spent too much money on those for them to not get any more playing time!!! But hey, what can I say? I'm totally blown away by this album!! I've always admired the voice, but the material of the music is wonderful! I'm pretty picky when it comes to music, the majority of my collection is pre-2000 stuff. This is the CD I've been waiting for. Someone with talent and class. I don't skip any songs and I've ripped it to my MP3 players so I can hear her at the gym. You KNOW you're a bad woman when you can have a brotha working out to your BALLADS, LOL!! This album is DEFINITELY worth the small price they charge for it and more! Her vocals are incredible and it should be against the law to sound this good. Carol could sing to Satan and make him change his ways! This album is a MUST have and I'll definitely be on the lookout for anything else her name is on! A fan for life!!!

    If you care about meaningful lyrics, distinctive melodies, the art of song-styling, then this is the cd for you. I liked every song: however, I, like others, have my favorites: "Brown-Eyed Girl," "All I Wanna Be (Krystal's Song)," and "You Better Not Hurt Me." I was already in love with Carol from her work with Musiq. I'm so happy that I've discovered the meal following that appetizer.

    What can I say about this voice???? I'll start by saying, original. I think people with a true gift have a unique voice. Puts you in the mind of Whitney Houston, Faith Evans, Mary J. Blige... when you can hear someone on the radio and know without a shadow of a doubt that it is that artist. Enter Carol Riddick. She is blessed to be in this group. Beautiful 'Moments Like This' do not come often, but I'm hear to tell you, it's finally here with this release. For a debut CD, Carol shows poise and has a very mature sound. Songs like 'I Don't Wanna', and my personal favorite, 'Flirtatious' have an energy that makes you feel exactly what she is conveying. I am very proud to have this CD in my collection, and it is in constant rotation. I recommend this cd to everyone, because there is definitely something on this cd for everybody. Five stars!!!!

    The cd is absolutely marvelous. My boyfriend took me to see her live at Zanzibar Blue, in Philadelphia over the Christmas holiday and I thought that she was simply amazing.     in a market where real music is rare and far between especially on the radio, this cd takes you back to the days with live instrumentation, great melodies, and a undeniable & unique powerhouse voice!! the album is great from start to finish with nice mellow mid-tempo tracks such as "you better not hurt me" and i don't wanna" to the inspirational tearing jerking "a better me" and "believe in me"! do yourself and get a few and send to a friend!! the cd is that good! the philadelphia sound is alive and well!
