notes
A hallowed cry forms from the depth of penetrating electronic sounds, a heavy bass, thick drum hit and sharp guitar that conveys
the emotions and intensity of Carfax Abbey. Singer Gary Billings beguiles and possess those who watch his performance, evoking
fans into the dark world that he opens up each time he steps on stage. The hard hitting combination of bassist Noel Conklin and drummer Byron Nelson maneuver the songs into the darkness further as guitarist John Ruszin stimulates an awe inspiring response.
Carfax Abbey takes listeners down a road reminiscent of Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, KMFDM, Gary Numan and Trent Reznor with a cutting edge live performance best described as an intense audio-visual assault.
Recently signed to Dancing Ferret Discs, they also have accomplished sharing the stage with bands such as VNV Nation, Type O Negative, Apoptygma Bezerk, The Cruxshadows, KMFDM, Bella Morte, Earshot, Sebastian Bach, Nevermore, The Genitorturers, Sinch, Tapping The Vein, RA, Isle of Q, 40 Below Summer, Harlow, Slick Idiot, (hed)pe, Mudvayne, Silvertide, The Nuns and The Murderdolls.
Carfax Abbey is featured on Asleep By Dawn's DJ Ferret's Underground Club Mix Vol. 1 alongside Skinny Puppy, Ministry and others. This Hot Topic Exclusive Disc sold out across the nation in a matter of weeks.
Their song Soul To Bleed, featured on Amazon.com's number one selling Goth compilation disc Music From the Succubus Club, along with others such as World Will Have to Wait, Flush to the Floor, Ketamine, Cry Little Sister and Second Skin prove the diverse talent and pure dedication to the gothic and industrial scene that
Carfax Abbey holds.

Pretty D*mn Good
author: JayThis cd is a pretty good cd. The electronics sound great, the guitars and music sound great. The only thing i dislike about this cd is the vocals arent too great on a few tracks. Don't get me wrong, on the rest of the tracks the vocals are beatiful. A good listen, and definately worth your money. I suggest getting it if you like industrial rock.
Great CD, buy it.
author: Mike GrohBased on this CD I will be buying any other Carfax Abbey cd's I can find. From the first track to the last, it is one of the best albums I have had the pleasure of listening to.
Excellent album, reminds me of NIN, KMFDM and the 80s!
author: Grieche"Second Skin" is a definite hit. I've been playing it for the past few months and I've still not grown tired with it. This album's organic sound is reminicsent of NIN with an 80s flair. Perfect for those of us who grew up in that generation and are eager for a little bit of 'nostalgic' music. This album is fresh, innovative and just plain awesome! An awesome buy!

some good old breakfast tea with a punchy kick
author: Marc 'the MEMORY Man' Urselli-SchaererHere is a band whose members you can tell most definitely had a past that involved heavy overdoses of hard rock, heavy metal, trash, glam rock and power metal... But fear not, these are not a bunch of cheesy wannabe rockers who sent us their demo by mistake. Philadelphia based Carfax Abbey take their experience and influences and pour it all into a crafty mixture of gothic, industrial, dark and electronic sounds. The programmming and the production are definitely the key element that lift Carfax Abbey off the ground to make them stand out. Fierce, glamorous and very eclectic vocals (from brilliant to corny), along with impactful scratchy aggro-guitars and ballsy bass lines are complemented by saavy DAW editing and fast-paced drum patters and allow them to retain their heritage and yet be an appetible cocktail of sounds for all you thirsty wide-horizon-ed music fans out there. Sure, they might be a little more "intense" than what we usually get here, but you all know we do appreciate mixtures of heavy guitars and electronic music around here, and even if this is not your average cup of tea, you don't have to be an english man or a drunk bum to appreciate some good old breakfast tea with a punchy kick, if you know what I mean... The truth always lies in between. I hear these guys pull off some great live shows (they opened for a list of who's who of today's industrial and metal industry scene and have been awarded multiple times), so if you are in area I suggest you line up at the box office.
Beautiful I say!
author: Julie JohnsonI first fell in love with Carfax Abbey back when I first heard “Soul to Bleed” from “The Music from The Succubus Club” compilation on Dancing Ferret Records. When I heard their album “American Gothic”, I thought they were good, and had a few really catchy gothic- industrial tracks. As much as I liked Carfax Abbey, I have always looked for more power in their music and more heavy melodies. I got to see them play live, they were really good, but I remember they never played “Soul to Bleed” the night I saw them. When I popped in “Second Skin” the new CD released in April 2004, I noticed something different very fast. I felt the power I had hoped for within their music. If you are not familiar with Carfax Abbey, they have an industrial rock edge like you would here in KMFDM or Nine Inch Nails, and killer electronics on the darker side. At times their sound can have a heavier Gary Numan feel as well. This new CD has catchy melodies and pounding beats that really lift up above the heavy guitar and bass. There are so many moment during this CD where you just want to listen to it again, like the ending on “Cry Little Sister”. This is much more listenable then the first CD I heard by them. I feel Carfax Abby has grown so much with this CD and will be climbing up within the scene when people get a chance to listen to this CD. The band has set their own style on this CD that I feel really works for them. I hope that they remind heavy with their sound with pleasing melodies. Tracks that I would recommend would be, “The Healing,” “Flush to the Floor,” “Second Skin,” “Cry Little Sister,” “ Losing Face”, and “Gifted Life”, which really bring out this power and melody that will make you want to listen to this band over and over again. Now, here is your homework, please put this CD on “Gifted Life,” and when you come to the part around three minutes and thirty seconds. Then, close your eyes and just listen to the guitar solo. It is an amazing guitar solo with a heavy riff that totally rocks. All I can say is brilliant. Now, take the same part of the song and in your mind strip away the guitar solo and listen to that programming sequence. Beautiful I say! It just really sums up how powerful their music really is on this CD. I am really pleased with the new CD and how polished it sounds. I give this CD a big- thumbs up! This is a CD to really get excited about, and a band to look out for on tour with the new music from this CD.
A++++

instant rush of compliments
author: Shane Glass @ "The Shane Show Z600 The EdgeHell-O!, Carfax Abbey!, I am Shane Glass the host of a "new" Metal/Industrial Music Show blasted out every Monday Evening from the great ol' Flathead Valley in NW Montana! I have recently played a couple of your tunes "The Healing, Second Skin" And they have caused an instant rush of compliments, so I decided to let ya know of the great turn out that I have had with your music!
passionate intensity exists
author: DJ FerretAfter six years, this April 2004 release marks the follow up to their well received debut disc. While the same level of heavy, passionate intensity exists, more melody is brought towards the front of the mix, making this album strong, but more accessible than their previous effort. There's still plenty of angst and darkness, particularly on their cover of Lost Boys staple "Cry Little Sister," which may not be quite as creepy as the original, but definitely rocks harder. While Stabbing Westward and Gravity Kills may provide a rough idea of what Carfax Abbey is all about, Carfax have clearly been more heavily influenced by the passion and emotion of the goth scene, leading to lyrics and performances that contain more genuine anger, dismay, lust, and passion than those other bands. Definitely recommended for fans of heavier music. 11 tracks. -
