notes

"Although John Carey is primarily known for his work as a session bassist for artists and singer-songwriters of rock, folk and R&B bands throughout New York City and worldwide, his debut CD explores the avant-garde: the completely live and improvisational album captures the stream of conscious thought processes between some of today's most talented, unique and most interesting musicians. The CD spans multiple genres of music, and in conjunction with the abstract artwork and very distinctive written introduction included within the twelve page booklet, the CD provides for a multimedia and multi-sensory experience . . . A truly fascinating record with an all-star line-up."
-Planet Bass, NYC

“Bass virtuoso John Carey calls his music “organized chaos” in the CD liner notes, and this live date ventures outside about as far as anything that’s come my way in recent memory.” “ . . . There are numerous moments of beauty and depth that occur within . . .”
-Ron Wynn, JazzTimes Magazine, December 2005

The CD Features:

John Carey -Fretted and Fretless Bass & Vocals.
Dave Eggar -Cello & Piano.
Oz Noy -Guitars.
Rachelle Garniez -Vocals, Accordion, Claviola, Acoustic Guitar & Bells and Whistles.
Frank Bellucci -Drums.

"I ask you to break down all preconceived walls, mental barriers and universal concepts when listening to this CD and try to determine your own conception of aesthetics: right/wrong, tasteful/distasteful, good/evil, beautiful/ugly, common/uncommon, dark/light, sane/insane . . . . create your own concepts to base your listening upon, and bring these newly-found ideas to play in your own life. Press play and come undone, unwind and sensitize yourself to everything."
-John Carey

  • What grows in the garden of sound?

This fabric is threadworkings weeved of many colors, dyed while fluid ,streatched to fit, then slacked for comfort ,draped to cover and warm the notions that material is special to those that fold cut and sew.

  • Highly recommended to all bass fans and avant-garde music lovers!
    author: Jason Presley

This CD is truly amazing. I highly recommend it to any bass fans or experimental and avant-garde music lovers. The CD has such a high level of overall musicianship. Very cool written introduction to the CD. Also, I've never seen artwork like the art included in the CD booklet. Very abstract and well done.
