A delightful mix of musical styles and a great blend of all the different sounds. The vocals are clearly enunciated and meaningful. Great songwriting and neat titles which are not the typical Parrothead/Island sound. Still fits quite well in the Parrothead community. Nine original songs in the CD (over 50 minutes of music) and my favorite is 'Runnin' the Show" - I can almost hear Jimmy singing this song and not sure it was not written for him ? Need to send it to Jimmy for sure. Kevin Johnston nails the CD when he replied to my inquiry "We took a different approach when making the CD. We look at TropRock as more about the music and the blends of calypso, blues, rock, country, reggae, and latin, not so much as about the lifestyle, though they work hand in hand. If you play it, you're livin it, and if your livin' it, then your listening to it. We steered clear of a lot of the parrots, palm trees, hammocks, etc., not so much on purpose, but that's how it worked out on this album"

Here's another warm weather offering to get you through a cold winter. This new CD from Captain Quint is wet and wild ! Can't help but give a nod right off to JImmy Buffett. Captain Quint is an outfit you are probably already familiar with from those jaunts down the shore to Ocean City, Maryland (the band's professed home away from home". From the first tune "Pineapple Jam" we're all set for sitting in the sun with a cool one, dancing at the dock bar, or setting sail from the oceans to the bays. The pictures painted by principal song crafter/keyboard player, Kevin Johnston, are of beaches, fishing trips, and playing in the band. John Patti's steel drum takes the high percussion road, while Mike Kufel keeps a steady drum beat. Michael Philip has a Jimmy style voice and I don't doubt that these guys and gals serve up a gallon of Buffett when they do the summer tour. Sax, harp, and a boat-load of guitars keep the sound about as sumptuous as a fully loaded pineapple pizza. Prodcution was done at the amazing John Grant's Secret Sound in Balitmore, MD. This is another summer CD that you are going to want in your collection, and it feels so good in the heart of winter, too ! Paula Philips and Michael Buckley Chesapeake Music Guide - Feb 2004
