notes

Former Drill Sergeant, two time Iraq war veteran, Army Arts Festival Award Winner, and even lead role in an Army of One Commercial. These don't even start to tell of the many accomplishment Cali Jonez has had both as a soldier and a hip-hop artist.
Cali Jonez became serious about music when he was fourteen. He went to a show where California super group, TunnelRatz, were performing. immediatley he fell in love with hip-hop. For the next six years he put everything he had into making his passion blossom. With no money and no place to stay Cali Jonez put his desire to be a hip-hop artist on hold and joined the United States Army. Soon after joining he realized that he could do both and began to really get serious about music. Cali Jonez began producing for dozens of artists in and around Ft Stewart, Ga. He even began to gain momentum landing shows in Savannah and winning freestyle competitions on e93 Jamz out of Savannah. All this, howvere would have to be put on hold. Cali Jonez was off to Iraq where he would spend the next year fighting to rid the Saddam Regime. Once he returned home he quickly got back into music and after seeing the Nick Berg beheading wrote a song called "Warrior" that would become an award winner in the Amry Arts Festival of 2004. Leading to a spot in the soldiers show that he would be unable to take because he would be heading to Iraq again. Cali Jonez knew that, again, he had made major moves in music but it would have to wait. Little did he know that this time Iraq would be different. While there Cali Jonez got a spot on MTV, opened up for Toby Kieth, and even got a mention in the Marne Standard, the deployed news letter. Once Cali Jonez returned from Iraq he hurried off to Drill Sergeant School. From here he would not deploy and took this opportunity to give hip-hop everything he had. Since August of 2007 Cali Jonez has performed all over Columbus, sold almost a thousand records, and landed many upcoming events in and around Atlanta. The biggest coming July 6th at the Atlanta Civic Center. Even with all of this success Cali Jonez knows that he must continue to amaze the masses if he intends to stay moving in the right direction. If it is heart, drive, and talent you are after you have found it. It is Cali Jonez!
