notes
Two bands in one! CAIRO was founded in the spring of ‘05 by bassists Thomas Thiel (Munich/Germany) and Michael Wright (Seattle/USA). This transatlantic combination shows up in the creativity of the songs and roles; the two songwriters even change their guitars on stage. Songs shaped by Mike’s fine art of guitar playing persuade while Tom’s raw and puissant compositions convince. Nina Kuhlig’s soulful voice and Martin Dorfner’s heartfelt drums complete this Munich quartet.
CAIRO’s lyrics broach society, politics, consumption and interpersonal stories in a critical and ironic way. In the end it’s a necklace made of pearls, of songs between Grunge, Americana, Britpop and Wave. Their ’07 debut release “The Armies of Compassion” shows the diversity and joy of this band.
