    Man, I smoked a lot of dope to this album when it came out. This is classic rock at its best! It's one thing to hear this music, stoned, with the headsets on. But to see Cain live, that was a show. At the Badger Room in Hudson, just outside of the Twin cities, Jiggs Lee was out of control while Forsberg ripped the guitar. Still have the album 32 years later.

    I had the pleasure to meet Lloyd Forsberg at Pete's Guitar in St. Paul in the early 70's. After checking out the guitars, we had coffee at Embers. He told me about the recording sessions of the album A Pound of Flesh. He said it was fun and going very well. I saw Cain perform the songs at Pudges in St Paul and at the State Theater in Mpls. The songs were inventive and amazing. Jiggs, Kevin, Dave and especially Lloyd were top notch players. Check out A Pound of Flesh if you enjoy high energy, guitar driven music. Long live Cain!

  • A live act that was second to none!

    Cain occasionally played a little club near my home town in west central Wisconsin, so I had the privilege of seeing them perform several times in 1973-74. Their live performance of these songs was deliriously high energy from start to finish. When the album was released, it was no surprise that the studio versions were just as dynamic. This is a prime slice of early seventies hard rock that stood equally with the headliners of the time and still sounds fresh today. Its release on CD is long overdue.

    I grew up just east of the twin cities in bloomer wi and saw this band at the pines ballroom everytime they came to town. This album was one of my first and I played it to death. Queen of the night and heed the call were my favorites but the whole album just plain rocked. Thanks cd baby and Cain.

  • A stone Classic

    The seventies, what with Jimmuh Cahtuh, leisure suits, and disco, may well indeed be "the decade that good taste forgot." Still: there was some absolutely PRIMO rock and roll going around then, pre-80s, pre synthesizer/fag rock, and CAIN, with their brilliant "A Pound Of Flesh" is certainly one of the most underappreciated bands of that era. Lloyd Forsberg was easily the equal of any of the then "guitar heroes," and Jiggs Lee, for my money, could kick the mortal $&!+ out of sweet lil' Bobby Plant ANY day. If for nothing else though, get this cd for the final 2 songs,"If TheRight One Don't Getcha The Left One Will" (remember ARS' "Imaginary Lover?" Forget that. "Right One" comes right out and SAYS it!) And the last track,"All My Life," still gives me chills for that break in the middle of the song where bassist Dave Elmeer plays a beautiful melody line on chimes. Oh,and let's not forget drummer Kevin DeRemer. Hate to drag out the comparison with Zepplin again, but DeRemer is a monster, kind of a "slightly-controllable" Keith Moon.

    How this masterpiece went unnoticed it a mystery. This CD from 1975 is comparable to any hard rocking classic of that era (i.e. Deep Purples' Stormbringer, Triumphs' debut, Queen.. etc)This CD is fabulous from beginning to end. Highly addictive stuff. I guess it is the obscurity of this band that enhances their appeal. Monster Records Did a superior job with this release.. (and all of their releases) . Get it now . The LP version commands a very high price tag. - Kevin Kurrasch
