notes
“This album rocks from top to bottom!” -Mark Bistany, Puddle of Mudd/HedPE
"To any that may want to check out Cage9, the new release has a lot to offer the listener. Great production, good songs! Also great vocals and drums on this one."
-Chris Poland, Guitarist for OHM, formerly of Megadeth
"El Motivo rocks me straight to HELL!" Aaron from PRONG
After more than a year of recording and over 40 finished songs, Cage9 considers "El Motivo" its greatest triumph of perseverance to date. The album was self produced and recorded by Evan Rodaniche in the band's studio in downtown Los Angeles. The title "El Motivo" comes from a poem written by Rodaniche which appears in spoken word form in different languages throughout parts of the CD. The poem deals with the age old search for a reason to continue pursuing inspiration, against the challenges of modern existence - a theme echoed in much of the lyrics of the album. Also heard on this album in the form of keyboards, narrations and hidden tracks are members of Big City Rock (Atlantic Records), Ankla (ex-members of Puya), Your Horrible Smile, Kairos, Dig Jelly and more.
About "Hollywood Car Crash," USA TODAY says, "the initial impact could cause whiplash, but this Panamanian rock band makes great use of subtlety, too, like the layered guitars and the falsetto that kicks in just when you expect a scream.”
"Hearts & Stars" can be heard on the latest version of the video game "MX vs. ATV Untamed." The quartet can also be heard in the soundtrack of WWE Stone Cold Steve Austin’s new move “The Condemned,” in the trailer for the "Dukes of Hazzard" movie, as well as on FX's "The Shield," “American Pie: Band Camp,” and Stephen J. Cannell's thriller "Demon Hunter." Cage9 has performed on cable & satellite G4's "Attack of the Show," subscribed to by over 55 million households nationwide.
The band has been mentioned in Campus Circle, Hits, Music Connection, Skinnie Magazine and Billboard, as well as in Rolling Stone (Latin America) where Cage9's last E.P. received a cool 3.5 star review. Radio playlists spinning Cage9 include L.A.’s “World Famous” KROQ, Phoenix’s KEDJ, (where "Hollywood Car Crash" was the featured song for a week), XM & Sirius Satellite Radio and more. Cage9’s Spanish song “Solo Fue” hit 1 on Panama’s top FM station Radio Mix in February.
Currently serving as the main guitarist for Powerman 5000, Cage9's singer/guitarist Evan Rodaniche landed the band as opener for PM5K's last big U.S. Tour in March, playing in both bands nightly. Cage9 has also gigged with Seether, Buckcherry, Amy Lee of Evanescence, Wes Boreland's Black Light Burns, Madina Lake, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Ice T’s Body Count, Adema, Cheap Trick, ex-Pumpkin James Iha, Godhead, Smile Empty Soul and toured from Europe and Japan, to the U.S. and Central America.
Already a part of Universal Music Publishing, Cage9 recently signed with Japanese label Triple Vision Entertainment / BM.3 Corporation who licensed "Chaos Morning" (Japan exclusive) and “El Motivo” which has sold over 12,000 copies since its release in '07 and cracked that country’s Top 30 in sales! "El Motivo" is also available on CD Baby in Spanish.
Online rag Melodic.net says "Cage9 has recorded their Physical Graffiti, an intelligent & comprehensive modern rock album worthy of a place in the history books of rock music.” Puddle of Mudd’s drummer Mark Bistany simply says “this album rocks from top to bottom!”
Cage9, based in Los Angeles, is comprised of Panama transplants Evan Rodaniche and Gustavo Aued on guitar/vocals and bass respectively, L.A. native Jesse Beltz on guitar and from Phoenix, AZ, Gordon Heckaman who was recently featured in Modern Drummer Magazine discussing his Ozzfest experience with his last band Depswa. Evan steers the project as the band’s main song-scaper and recording-guru whose production and mixing skills have not only shaped Cage9's sound but that of many other performers from latin-grammy-winners Los Rabanes, Atlantic Record's upstarts Big City Rock, to current Rolling Stone and Spin indie darlings The Willowz.
The band chose the moniker "Cage9" after a trip to Europe, fusing the German word for "no" with "cage" to epitomize the group's no-limits approach towards creating music...
Cage9's video for “My Doppelganger” is in full rotation on Mtv Latino and the band was invited to Mtv's Latin Video Awards in Mexico City in '07 where they walked the red carpet with bands like Juanes, The Cure, Avril Lavigne and more. The video has also appeared on Mtv Japan & Fuse on Demand.

This album rocks! Cage 9 has created another killer collection of songs.
author: ClaireAs usual, Cage 9 lives up to their reputation of making amazing, original music. This album rocks hard and proves that in no way should they be limited to a reputation of being just another local band. Whether live or recorded, these latest songs kill!
Tight, tough, raw songs with strong listenability = it kicks.
author: N T SparkI've seen Cage9 live and this CD captures a lot of the energy and fire of a show at the Roxy. Cage9 is in great form on this album and it's well worth a listen. They are their own thing and quite sensational at times. They sound like veterans of the third rock n' roll war -- fresh, new, raw, and kick ass. Checkitout.

author: JohnThis cd is pretty good. You can tell that they put a lot of time and effort into it. Not as hard as Human Feedback (their last album). Obviously full of effort. Vocals sound great.
