notes
If you recognize the title of the historic Max Fleischer cartoon from which this album's title was taken, you'll understand the charm and joy of Cafe Accordion Orchestra - an "old-school" combo that plays from the heart.
Look elsewhere if you want trendy, hip, up-to-date takes on classic songs. But if you're looking for inspired performances of vintage swing, passionate Finnish tangos and bouncy cumbias, "Dancing on the Moon" will become one of your favorites.
Of "Dancing on the Moon", the Minnesota Daily said "With a somewhat unconventional approach to the craft, and the honest talent to make it all work, CAO proves that bringing back the past doesn't have to be done in an over-exposed, commercial way. Forget all those hip new swing bands with their zoot suits and martinis; CAO is the real deal."
Accordion Players News said "Two words come to mind as I listen to Dancing on the Moon by CAPA member Dan Newton's Café Accordion Orchestra: mellow and hip."

A flawless CD!
author: Derek EmersonI love the accordion (may God help me) and this CD is a good example of why. A wide range of styles mixed with the accordion backing and be backed by other instruments makes for a great sound. Great for the accordion fanatic or as a way to introduce someone to the joys of accordion music.
This CD was a request from my 15 yr old ?!
author: SherYes, my 15 yr. old heard this CD on TV and had to have it. A wonderful blend of Accordion music.

An Audio Tour of Western Europe!
author: Gerald WeislThere are many varied accordion tunes here...some sound French, some Italian, some gypsy, some Spanish...it's a lively bunch of sounds. A good glass of pastis, beer or vino and this CD and you're there. Practically.
Great Tunes!
author: ArmandoI love the worldly variety and the tempo is very upbeat. And I'm hard to please.
I Love It!
author: Ilana MarksThis is my second Cafe Accordion Orchestra CD and they're still tops with me. This album melts away the cares of the day and makes you want to dance on the moon (well, maybe dance under the moon!) "Dancing on the Moon" is happiness and sophistication filtered through the medium of music and it is worth its weight in gold, as far as I'm concerned. My favorite tunes are "Let's Cumbia" and the title track.
FUN FUN FUN!
author: Susan KernHEY accordion lovers...this is great. This is music from a kinder, gentler time.
Best CD I have heard this year - great mix of django, musette, cafe, etc. but g
author: CBFabulous!! Piaf would be proud!
author: John BurkeI received this CD at work and during a particularly stressful day in the fashion industry,(you know the kind of DRAMA they can come up with!!), I popped it into the player in my office and was instantly taken to a bistro in Paris! Everyone who walked in over the next hour and heard a song was smiling in seconds and asking what CD it was. From the beginning all the way to the last track, DANCING ON THE MOON, this CD is a winner! Piaf would be proud!!
Great
author: MariuszAbsolutely great. My wife and I trully enjoy listening to this CD.
great Italian music makes me want to go back to Italy
author: paul ordthis CD is very good representation of Italian music, we heard much of this type of music while traveling thru Italy.
Every thing you could want in an accordian orchestra and more.
author: BruceThere isn't anything I don't like about this CD. The variations in style that show the full range of expression by which the accordian has found its voice around the world are here -- gloriously. I am very jealous of anyone who lives in St. Paul ( or Minneapolis)and can hear this live. I think this should come with optional changes of clothing to set the perfect mood for each song.
Fantastic!
author: Laura CoxThis CD is amazing! A must have for accordion lovers. Every song is perfectly performed and will stick in your head for days! Cafe Accordion Orchestra is the best you will find!
What a Treat!
