Musical Masterpiece
author: Alan MosherI've had this CD for a couple of years and never get tired of listening to the great songs. The harmonies and instrumentation are flawless. This album deserved a much wider exposure. It's a shame these guys didn't stay together and produce more of this wonderful music. For anyone who likes Country Rock and great harmony, this is a treasure.

This is amazing!
This record deserves a much wider audience!
author: Steve WaiteI've owned this CD for a few years now, but never got around to writing a review. Shame on me. This is a terrific recording!!! -- one that will surely stand the test of time. The ulimate test of music is how it sounds after repeated listenings over the passage of time. Cactus Choir has a 'dynamic quality' (to borrow a phrase from philosopher Robert Pirsig) that is reserved for some of the great recording artists of our time (pick your favorite band from the 60s and 70s). It's a shame a major label didn't pick up this record. I'd give the record ten stars if I could. Congrats on a fine outing, Marty. Thanks for sharing the love with us. God bless you, brother!
This CD never makes it back into the cabinet.
author: Kelly HollingsheadAt our house, this CD never makes it back into the cabinet. It is being listened to by one or the other of us. Listening to Marty's song lyrics is like being there in the story. My favorite song is "Little Candles", his favorite song is "It's Your Move".
Excellent songs, arangements, and harmonys
author: Tony ReedThis CD has the flavor that I as performer find so palatable. Not many groups can achieve such a wonderful blend of songs that I sit enthralled to listen, and then without thinking begin to sing along. These are the things that I strive for when I write and sing. Great Job!
One of the top five in my stranded island collection.
author: Scott from CaliforniaFor Nashville and the record industry in general to overlook this superb collection of songs (and harmonies that make CSN look pedestrian) is a shame. I simply love this music period.

Country fan or not, you can't deny that this beautiful and smoothly blended CD, with the lyricism and touching melodies of James Taylor, is above and beyond the norm of today's country pop. Whether you like your country tangy and twangy or just honestly reflective of the down-home wonders of simple livin', Cactus Choir Lightly brushes over CSNY harmonies, the old, 70's Kenny Loggins nostalgia and classic rock magic to please most everyone.
Sweet!
author: Dennis in MDRemember Poco, Eagles and New Riders? How about Restless Heart? Bruce Hornsby? If you like tight harmonies and a country-rock flavor this is a must have. Very sweet!
Stellar Writing and Killer Harmonies
author: Greg in Orange CountyI really don't like "country" music. But this CD is so refreshingly good - great songs, amazing harmonies. This is one of the ulimate "feel good" CDs. If you are bummed out after listening to this entire CD, you better seek medical attention immediately. Thanks Cactus Choir - you guys should be rich and famous.
beautiful music with excellent harmonies
author: Mark MarkowPull up a chair, sit back & listen to this CD. This is music at it's finest. Crisp beautiful harmonies, well crafted lyrics, wonderful melodies, and the recording sounds awesome. This is the kind of music that you want to give to all of your friends. It's reminiscent of early Eagles, Pure Prairie League, and America. Cactus Choir is too good to keep to yourself, share it with a good buddy, your lady, or the cute little brunette next door.
Thanks once again to KPIG radio on the internet!
author: Sharon in West VirginiaArden Eaton on KPIG played a cut from this cd one day, and I knew I had to have it! The harmonies and wonderful songs are great, one right after the other! A rare find, when you just love all the songs on a cd!
great harmony, this band will be popular
author: k.mcgheeAn out of the way masterpiece
author: a listener in JapanIt seems that this record hardly ever got the hearing it so much deserves. But many thanks to CDBaby for keeping it available! The songs are finely written--lyrics and music alike. The arrangements are rich, almost perfect. And the playing and singing are at once expert and effortless. The record is a real pleasure to listen to right out of the box. But it grows on you with each repeated listening--to an extent that is, quite frankly, genuinely rare. I owe my wife a debt of gratitude for bringing this record into our lives. (She first heard Marty Atkinson singing Stephen Foster songs on "Swannee," and we've been fans ever since.) Check out Marty's "Big Plans," too. Absolutely first-rate song-writing.
Great songs - easy listening
author: Christian Kochhowever the more often you hear these songs the more you discover. Great melodies, nice harmonies but also rich detail work. Would certainly buy another one from CACTUS CHOIR if available.
Cool Harmony!
author: Martin ReadBought this album on the back of hearing New Frontier on the CD Baby Compilation CD. Whilst nothing quite tops that track there are several great songs to enjoy..Little Candles being about the pick. Anyone currently raving about Grand Drive and Josh Rouse should be eager to snap up this little gem too!
Still wonderful after all these years

Great Country Music Voices
author: EdI've been searching for a country solo/group with a great voice and I finally found it. Keep it up.
Music that goes down smoother than good tequila....
author: E. WalkerWhen I listened to the song samples on cdbaby.com I knew that I NEEDED to get this CD for my collection. Musically, it's some of the best I've heard in a long time. Harmonies that harken back to the days of Pure Prairie League and music reminiscent of country rock pioneers, Poco, the songs are very well crafted and the stories therein are so far removed from the crap flooding the airwaves of today. Very refreshing. Whether it's a song of hope as in 'Little Candles' or doing what we've all wanted to do at one time or another and just chuck it all, travel far away and start anew like in 'Can't Find A Reason', it's music that's timeless, pure of spirit, and just invites you to sing a long. Great, great music from that strong southwestern perspective.
A cool breeze in summer, a blood-warmer in winter, reminisce with this sweet and
author: Tamara TurnerA fresh Spring wind is blowing through the pines. With sky-scraping melodies and bountiful harmonies like that of the legendary James Taylor, lightly brushing up against the sweetness of CSNY and with the poignant nostalgia of the early, 70's phase of Kenny Loggins, Cactus Choir will reach Country and Folk fans of all hats. Whether you like your country pop tart and tangy or warm and folky, this beautiful and smoothly blended CD is undeniably above and beyond the norm. The most stunning virtue of the songwriting is the inseparable, unified quality of the poetry with the music; neither one feels like it defers to the other. Let this fresh breeze carrying sunshine blow through the shadowy corners of your life.
Great songs and classic harmony
author: JW - Houston, TX.Cactus Choir is the real deal. This CD has several well-written songs that you just want to hear over and over. Vocal work is excellent with rich, layered harmonies that remind me of The Remingtons or Firefall. "Little Candles" is defintiely top 40 material. I will buy another CD from these guys as soon as they record one. Speaking of the recording....the sound quality is as good as the music!
