notes
This second studio album from The Buttless Chaps has a wild mix of styles, all created over the course of 1998/1999.
Recorded and mixed in Burns Lake, B.C. at Ronin Digital Works and mastered in Victoria by Tolan McNeil at Media Magic. The front and back cover paintings were done by Victoria artist David P. Smith, and the interior artwork was created by the band.
Highly recommended if you've got a big variety of tastes.
'Possibly the hardest working Canadian band to surface in the past few years, Victoria's Buttless Chaps follow up their splendid debut. . . on a wild musical expedition that takes us all over the map.'
'And you thought all West Coasters were lazy stoners.'
--Jon Bartlett, Exclaim!
'. . .the Chaps have put out a second album of toe-tappin' versatility. I recommend this album. . .'

embarking on a wild musical expedition that takes us all over the map
author: Exclaim MagazineAlthough their debut stuck pretty close to a traditional country format, the Buttless Chaps have put on many a mask since, embarking on a wild musical expedition that takes us all over the map... The band's latest disc, Tumblewire, further expands the Buttless boundaries as the players' heads came together as a unit... Chicago-like vibes permeate the mix before Gowans' vocal puts on its Waits-y drawl and leads the way through the songs many changes. Gone is the overwhelming country feel to the Chaps sound, although it pops its head up here and there.. (SEE WEBLINK FOR FULL REVIEW)
