Butterfinger recently released its debut self-titled album capitalizing on the momentum of their award-winning song, Breathe. Breathe won the national songwriting competition in conjunction with Canadian Music Week in Toronto in the spring of 2001. The award led to heavy airplay for the song, which exploded to become the number one requested song in the Western Canadian market of Saskatoon. The success of Breathe inspired the band to embark on a full-length album project. They enlisted rising-star Producer, Mixer, and Engineer Jared Kuemper (Sheryl Crow, Tegan and Sara, Jason Falkner, Pusch, Tariq) to give direction to the project.
Jared Kuemper encouraged the band to expand their horizons and collaborate with other writers in addition to continuing development of their own work. As a result, the album contains a rich mixture of songs, some of which are pure Butterfinger, and others which are collaborations with internationally renowned songwriters: Tariq,Wayde Hubbard, David Martin, and Ben Dunk. The band's horizons were truly expanded as the project took them to Calgary, Toronto and Los Angeles. The travel the band experienced had a definite impact and was instrumental in the molding of the album's fresh sound. The result is a collection of songs with great guitar hooks and vocal melodies that leave the listener craving more.
Jared Kuemper's strong direction and perfectionist style along with Butterfinger's willingness to do anything to get the best out of their studio experience proved to be a great combination. The resulting record has exceeded all expectations and generated considerable buzz in anticipation of its release. The band's great live show has only added fuel to the fire. Butterfinger has a loyal and ever growing fan base. It is not uncommon for hordes of the Butterfinger faithful to drive 3 hours or more just to see them perform. In addition to packing their own shows, Butterfinger has played to capacity crowds along side artists such as: Nickelback, Filter, I Mother Earth, Edwin, Matthew Good, Big Sugar and Zuckerbaby.
Butterfinger's first single, "Fall", made its radio debut on Rock 102 and C-95 in Saskatoon. The song was an instant success and both stations were flooded with phone and email requests. "Fall" has consistently made the "top requested songs of the day" list since it was put into heavy rotation on both Rock 102 and C-95. Other stations throughout Saskatchewan soon took notice of the single's success and "Fall" has since been added to stations in Regina, Prince Albert, North Battleford, Lloydminster, Yorkton and Estevan. The song's appeal isn't confined to Saskatchewan, however. Stations in markets throughout the United States have added "Fall" as well. The single is getting airplay in San Jose, CA, Springfield, MO, Atlanta, GA, Columbus, OH, Indianapolis, IN, Memphis, TN and Charlotte, NC. CD sales through the band's Website have also been widespread with orders coming in from all over North America and as far as England and Australia.
Within the last year, throughout their recording project and their busy live schedule, Butterfinger has made huge strides toward realizing its goal of making great music that will be enjoyed on a massive global scale.

FRESH!
author: AnnetteEach and every song is so refreshing. Honestly I have to say that this is the first CD in a long time where I couldn't compare it's sound to another group. This CD has it's own unique style. This CD is great for working around the house or just kicking back with a few beers. It's definitely worth listening to.
