notes

Bushtic was started around 1997 when singer, songwriter and lead gutar player Jeff Sollohub and his brother Joe (bass) moved to Denver, CO from Talahasee, FL. They met up with high school friend Tim Beattie (guitar) and a drummer from Colorado named Chris Niel. Chris left the band in the spring of 2001 and was replaced by Jesse Starnes. At this point Bushtic had already grown out of it's old skin and become a new monster with a variety of new sounds. Instruments such as sax, flute, cello, didjeridu, sitar, Chapman Stick, percussion and added vocalists took this already strong band into a new stage of creation.'Nowhere/ Now Here' is the band's first release and is a product of the unique styles and backgrounds of all of it's contributors.

Bushtic live focuses on gigging around their home state of Colorado but has had road experience in Arizona and California. The live show seldom consists of all of the members (when it does it's a sound guy's rather pleasent sounding nightmare). Generally, one can expect all of the strings and percussion. The other musicians, all participating in other projects, frequently show up when not playing elsewhere. This may seem inconsistant but live music is not a snapshot, that's what CD's are for. Movement and change bring about new ideas. Another frequent feature of the live show is the dancers, either belly or modern. You may not know the exact line up on any given night at a Bushtic show but there is one certainty, - you will be entertained.

  • This band is so under-appreciated its close to sin.

Bushtic is the new wave of funk jam badasses. A person would be a fool to not pick up a disk, but to never hear them live is a day gone from your life.

  • Great CD
