"'Sunrise' folk captures earthy spirit with style!"
Rapid City Journal reviews:
"A homage to nature is on the cover and in the straight-forward folk music on Bunny Sings Wolf's newest album...
Black Hills folk singer Bunny Sings Wolf ably fills the niche of local Earth Mother with unforgettable folk panache.
The Lakota-inflected folk songs of her new CD, "White Haired Sunrise," are marked both by their spiritual and social awareness and Sings Wolf's delicate vocal delivery.
On "White Haired Sunrise," her third CD, Sings Wolf's New Age theme is woven around acoustic guitar punctuated by wooden flute. Her delivery is uncluttered, and she seems perpetually at ease, even amid the gloom of the disc's opening song, "The End is Near," which begins: "When the mountain trembled and I held on tight/ And knew that hanging wouldn't save me/ Still I strengthened my grip, praying rather than hoping."
No matter the outlook of the song, spiritual well-being seems to be the focus, and the natural world informs the music. Her organic folk is well-suited to the simple, straightforward performances.
Sings Wolf, of Newcastle, Wyo., made her name busking around the Black Hills but more recently has worked her way into [international recognition]. With "White Haired Sunrise," she captures the spirit of the Earth Mother, briefly, and sets it free to roam the Black Hills again."
With brand NEW flutes custom made for Bunny, used as harmonies on almost all of the 16 songs on this album - (including Kate Wolf's "Give Yourself to Love" and "These Time We're Living In") - these original songs are comforting, peaceful sounds, just in time to send messages of hope, freedom and peace to a troubled world.
The music of Bunny Sings Wolf honors and brings forward the music of the late Kate Wolf. However, the idea behind the CD cover art also pictures the honoring of the Wolf as it is meaningful to some indigenous cultures. In legend it is said the Wolf comes from the Great Star Nation - the home of teachers, and it's association with "moon energy" (feminine) portraying them as holding the secrets of nurturing, knowledge and wisdom.
Now residing in the Black Hills, Bunny has written over 200 songs that have come in dreams, and she prepares now to release a new 2 CD album of more Wolf wisdom.

This gift of music brings happy thoughts
author: Rosie Cooley - Sagerose PublicationThe most beautiful voice. Listening to her sing, I was overcome by a feeling of calmness and acceptance of life; at the same time, a feeling of hope for the future of all things great and small filled my heart.~~~I was deeply honored by her gift of time and talent and will place this CD in my treasure box of favorite music to keep and enjoy always. To put my Happy Thoughts to words, I'll quote others to express my feelings about this music... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart." (Helen Keller) "Those who dance are considered insane by those who can't hear the music." (George Carlin)
West, wide spaces, high skies speak to me here.
author: Charlie Groth-from Florida sunshine stateReceived your CD in yesterday's mail. Very nice! Your flute playing sounds great! Your western accent in the singing is very charming. Calls up the west, the wide spaces, the high skies. Music says things to me that speech or writing can never say. Listening to your music carefully I can feel the kind of reality you make and perceive. I think your song "Moon" is the one I like best of your songs on this album. What you did with "Wild Mountain Climb" is cute! The story of "White Haired Sunrise" is very good. The production stuff you did with echoes on "Now Is The Time" is cool. Good stuff. You are truly a special person. I hear a history of tension, conflict, and repression behind your music, as a force in why it exists. You are working to move our consciousness far beyond that, and succeeding. I'm glad it is indeed history in your life. I see why you choose to live where you do, away from the stresses of city life, so you can share this organic music you hear in the hills so the rest of us can "visit" these restful places.
Chicken Soup for a Beautiful Land
author: Wayne JohnsonThere's nothing greater than an artist that can take you places when listening to their music. White Hair Sunrise will weaken your defenses and saturate your being in an inspired album of gentle bird flutes and holistic peace. "Freedom" is a song that utters the Lakota "Mitakuye Oyasin" We are all realated- all my relations.
