Acoustic aggressiveness collides with romantic overtones and vibrant vocals.

notes

When all you have is a guitar and a singular voice with minimal accompaniment, you had better be good. Bobby St.Vincent has no problem rising to the challenge on his self-titled EP.

St. Vincent is a young and effervescent performer. He was more than likely the kind of kid that played guitar in his bedroom until his fingers bleed or his parents told him to go to bed, whichever came first. All of the practice, playing, and singing seems to have paid off in spades for St. Vincent. His voice has a rough Neil Diamond like edge to it, like when Diamond was in his prime...just a voice and a guitar.

This young man follows in the tradition of a long line of poets with guitars. If you have heard Springsteen's new album you will know why this sound is so popular. Its honest and clear cut, not overproduced, its simple and well thought out with lyrics that actually makes sense. Now how is that for uniqueness? It is funny that I would have to make a statement like that, however I am very challenged most of the time to understand what a vocalist is saying. There was never a problem while listening to the five tracks on this acoustical journey. This is all St. Vincent, well almost; enough to convince you that he has what it takes to make the big time if he keeps going in this direction.

The CD ends in a different way. You always read the thank you's in the liner notes but on this album, St. Vincent plucks his guitar and dedicates an entire track to it. It gets boring real fast, I shut if off half way through. It was a nice tribute to the people that matter in his life but a bit much for me thank you very much. This does not take away from his performance on the previous tracks whatsoever. Just shut it off like I did and start with track one.

Bobby St. Vincent is a vibrant, acoustic guitar player and singer/songwriter from Cleveland, Ohio. Born August 7, 1980, Bobby spent much of his youth admiring the artists on early MTV, while strumming his guitar and singing into a microphone. Spending numerous summers and vacations in Man-O-War Cay, Bahamas, Bobby has created a style of music all his own. This style has carried him through a respectable music career.

At the age of 15, Bobby's musical passion led him to the creation of the band Cornerstone. Beginning in 1995, Cornerstone molded cool pop jazz with a streak of funky beats and powerful punk lyrics. Upon graduation of high school, Cornerstone came to an end and college-bound Bobby began his solo career.

In his first year of college, Bobby experimented with his musical writing abilities. Only after a year of composing music, Bobby embarked on his first studio effort, which resulted in the six-track acoustic session entitled, "Edge of Tomorrow".

By the end of Bobby's college career, he had advanced his songwriting skills enormously, while establishing a strong fan base throughout Ohio. Playing weekly gigs and various bars and nightclubs, many fans have watched Bobby develop into the dynamic musician he is today. One highlight of Bobby's performing career was opening for Boston at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, in 2003.

Bobby released his five-track EP in February 1005. His romantic approach to life collides with his acoustic attitude in his first studio release. Although the EP contains only five tracks, it captures Bobby's dynamically romantic essence.

Recorded in the fall of 2004, Bobby's new release takes the listener on an adventure; whether if it is with him sailing through the Caribbean in "Moonshine", or his smooth-rocking beats in "Fancy".

Although Bobby's music is unparalleled, his influences are diverse: 311, Ani DiFranco, Bob Marley, Dave Matthews Band, Jimmy Buffett, Rage Against the Machine, The Doors, and The Rolling Stones.

With a unique blend of powerful rock, along with reflective ballads, Bobby continues to add to his eclectic style of music. Recently emerging the Tempe music scene, Bobby is establishing a strong following among a wide variety of people. Playing new venues, gaining more fans, and introducing a new breed of music has been an exciting experience for Bobby.

The 24-year-old Bobby St. Vincent embraces life with a remarkably positive outlook. Bobby is continually working to distinguish himself as a reputable musician through touring and album sales. Check local listings for a Fall 2005 tour or visit www.stvincentmusic.com
