BROTHAZ ‘N CHRIST

When people refer to the ‘Quartet Sound”, what immediately comes to mind? Four mature men in powder blue suits, a two-step routine, and melodies that ‘Big Mama’ would listen to?

Best friends from Akron, Ohio, Damon Bracy, Sr. and Eric Allen, Sr. formed a duo that would have the sound of soul and lyrical influence of the old school quartet sound as well as the unmistakable funk and deep rhythms of George Clinton and the Gap Band.

Yep, when PFunk meets Quartet, it translates to Brothaz ‘N Christ.

Of course, the Brothaz attribute this unique sound to their pre-salvation days in the music industry. Having appeared with such legendary R&B greats like Roger & Zapp, Cameo and Morris Day & the Time caused them to develop a sound that leaves you wanting more. One listen and you begin to reminisce about the Jodeci era. “That’s because they were a tremendous influence during that time…We use that same funk, but we’re kickin’ it with the Word”, says Damon.

Damon and Eric could be classified as child prodigy’s, having mastered several instruments by their teens (playing drums at age 5, singing at age 9, and playing trumpet and keys at age 11, and the bass guitar at age 13). Both recognized their exceptional musical abilities at early ages. Damon sang on his first recording, “Golden Rule”, at age 9 with the Johnson Singers of Akron, Ohio. Both men were known as ‘bad boys’ in their neighborhood, but it wasn’t until each experienced life changing encounters with God (while doing stints in jail) that they each realized the call of God on their lives. They teamed up and formed what is now called, “Brothaz ‘N Christ”.

In 2003, while touring with Kyle Bynoe and Praise, the Brothaz decided that it was time to take their ministry to the next level. They introduced themselves to Mr. Bynoe and provided him with a demo. Kyle quickly recognized the ministry that was being birthed in these two young men and set the wheels in motion for Brothaz ‘N Christ to record their first CD.

In addition to their extraordinary musical and vocal talents, Damon and Eric possess exceptional songwriting skills. Together they wrote the majority of the songs on this project; co-wrote a song for gospel recording artists “The Mighty Clouds of Joys” – title cut, “House of the Lord” (EMI Gospel) which was nominated for 2006 Dove Award and appears on WOW 2006 (Warner Brothers): wrote song for gospel recording artist, “Rizen” which received a Stellar nomination for the title cut, “Magnify” (Artemas Records).

Ladies and gentlemen – Allow me to introduce Damon Bracy, Sr. (artist/producer) and Eric Allen, Sr. (artist/producer) – Now please, enjoy the refreshing sound of Brothaz ‘N Christ!
