notes
A painter with words on a canvas of melody, Brian Speaker is a colorful Indie artist blending acoustic, Americana, pop rock, folk and blues. Influenced by the Beatles, Wilco, Elliott Smith and Beck, his focus is directed toward creative and poetic songwriting.
Brian recently lent his voice to the musical/movie 'Across the Universe', featuring The Beatles song book with performances by Bono and Joe Cocker(learn more at www.imdb.com). He's also been included in the new Grand Theft Auto video game series as numerous voices, the most recent IV being released in March 2008. In July of 2006 two songs from his last album, Revolution of One, aired in a television series. The Ride and Poison were featured songs in the show Dr. G Medical Examiner on the Discovery Health Channel.
Brian Speaker's music is a melody driven blend of his influences, which include The Beatles, Elliott Smith, Wilco, Beck and many others. He adds a poetic sensibility with his lyrics and soulful voice.
A regular in the NYC open mic scene, Brian has played gigs at The Bitter End, The Knitting Factory, CBGB's & Sidewalk Cafe. Performing solo and occasionally as a power trio, he can be heard in some of the best rooms in New York City.
