Brett’s earliest memories are filled with the music his parents made – dressing up in renaissance garb to sing motets, passing the guitar around at summer parties, and being a part of the family bluegrass band. Brett’s own musical path took him briefly into the academic realm of electronic music composition, but his love of songwriting and songcraft have kept him writing songs for over 20 years, ever since he first picked up a guitar. Having played the music of The Beatles, Neil Young, CSN, The Indigo Girls and The Grateful Dead in numerous bands over the years, Brett’s music reflects these influences yet always remains distinctively his own. His voice is as unique and easy to listen to as Lennon, Mayer or LaMontagne and as an added treat, many of his tracks also feature rich and intricate backing vocals. His guitar work is mostly acoustic, but many of his songs feature drums, bass, keyboards (Rhodes, B3, Piano) and acoustic percussion in arrangements that mix equal parts “laid back groovy” with “crisp and catchy songcraft”. A prolific songwriter above all else, he is currently working on a series of 4 CDs, each treated as a unique project.

great songs
author: Jon Martinson
I got this after seeing one of Brett's shows. The songs definitely sound already familiar, which I think is a good thing. Brett's got a nice distinctive voice and his songs are all pretty groovy and concise, with good variety. Reminded me a bit of Ryan Adams, John Denver, and Neil Young too. I played the CD a lot during a recent road trip, and it was definitely good music for driving!
