notes
Brailehouse is a modern Jazz project featuring the compositions of bassist Alan Katz. These pieces are interpreted through the stellar talents of Matt Miller (Drums); John Marshall (Tenor Sax) and Ben Monder (Guitar).
Although listed as a "Jazz" album, Brailehouse` "Pledge" is a cross-genre experience. The composer has many musical influences. It is his hope this is reflected in his music as a non-derivative expression.
Mr. Katz employs an idiosyncratic chordal approach to some of the tracks, introducing some fresh timbres and inversions to the bass guitar. These techniques are most audible on "Wheels Over Indian Trails" and "Monderia".
There are many "moments" on the album rewarding the attentive listener.
Every song has a character of it`s own---we encourage you to check the samples on the Digital Download page.
Consider ordering a hard-copy CD. Along with high-fidelity from being mastered by Grammy Award winner Gene Paul,it features some beautiful artwork and photography. A nice piece to add to your collection.

Brailehouse
author: jay dorranceBassist Alan Katz is a monster! Katz has put together a stellar session with the addition of guitar wizard Ben Monder. From the opening notes of Dorset its clear we're in for a special ride. Tenor Sax man John Marsall (not the english percussionist)is also a revelation. Marshall sports a fat full tone and ably carries the lead role at times. Its Ben Monder's presence here that got my interest. Truly a monster under recognized talent, Monder is in full ripping form. This is a wonderful find...highly recommended!
