The musical style of this CD would probably be considered as modern pop-rock. Rock music with strong musical hooks, catchy chorusus and a healthy dose of three part harmonies.

notes

The band started in the Fox Valley of Wisconsin but very quickly grew to be well known throughout the music hot spots in the Midwest. Boxkar has played shows with bands like Cherry Monroe, Ingram Hill, Cowboy Mouth, Third Eye Blind, Everclear, Josh Kelly, Three Doors Down, Hillary Duff, Fuel, Ryan Cabrera, Great White and recently at the Viper Room in LA with Kevin Martin from Candlebox and Green Leaf Avenue. In the summer of 2003, they opened for the BoDeans, putting on a show that drew nearly 9,000 people. In January of 2005, they were the only unsigned band to perform at the Presidential Inauguration in Washington DC. They have received incredible support from radio stations such as WIXX(CHR, 100k watts), calling their songs "Potential hit after hit" and WAPL(CHR, 100k watts), calling their performance "The total rock and roll live show!" They also drew attention from industry cats such as Bob Destocki, once the Promotions Director for Warner Bros. and a former A & R Director for Elektra/Asylum. He stated that Boxkar has everything needed to be a player in today's music market. Monty Powell, a CMA award winning producer and writer of seven #1 songs selling over 35 million units, calls the songs infectious and boasts that Chris Szebeni(front man) is a superstar in the making.

  • Boxkar kiks it big!!!
    author: Cass

I had went to a Cherry Monroe here in WI, well Boxkar opened for them, it was the first time hearing them and I knew instantly that they were my type of band. So I decided to buy their CD. The CD is the best CD I have, and I have a lot of CD's.

  • good song - proper music!
    author: Dave from England

I saw an article in Classic Rock magazine and liked what I read, so I searched the internet to try and buy the CD. With all due respect to CD Baby [ which is a superb website ] I think the album deserves to reach an even wider internet audience. I like just about all the songs except number 5 [ I think!...names escape me at this point! ], which starts off slow and builds up at the end - its just not that exciting. But all the others are great I must say. I played this to my wife in the car the day I received it and she really liked it too. She said it was 'proper music'! I would love to see this band play live, although I doubt I ever will sadly as the UK doesn't always open its ears to this type of stuff. The only other thing I would say is, I would love to hear this record with an even bigger production, as I think the vocals sound a bit thin on a couple of songs - not the fault of the singer, who has a good voice but rather the production. Overall, a really strong album and I hope they can produce more as good as this and become huge stars.

  • When does the NATIONAL tour start?
    author: ejs

Thoroughly enjoyed this CD beginning to end. Thanks to Classic Rock Magazine for introducing me to Boxkar. I see on the average three concerts a month; Aerosmith, Goo Goo Dolls, Journey, Eagles, Rob Thomas, Motley Crue...a wide range. I am very much looking forward to adding Boxkar to my list. Pack your bags boys and a whole bunch of boxes of this CD and head on out here to the House of Blues in sunny Los Angeles, where I am sure you will have an immediate fan base.

  • Boxkar is a hit waiting to happen
    author: Peter

Boxkar is one of those bands that draws you in, grabs hold of you, and then you're hooked. With its driving lead and rhythm guitars, its heavy, yet friendly beat, and its catchy melodies, Boxkar is a hit waiting to happen. The album is a great complement to a band that is already a delightful live act.

Old-school, honest, earnest ROCK AND ROLL. Music that makes you feel good! Boxkar shows a lot of growth on this disc versus their debut, "Rockstar Weekend."

  • Can't live without them
    author: Sarah (GS)

I've been a Boxkar fan for almost 2 years now and I still can't enough of them. Their music brings me to places I've never been before. They make me feel things I've never felt before. All the guys are incredibly talented and super sweet. I love them all to death. I never will know how to ever repay them for everything they've done. The only way I could do that was to get a tattoo of the b on my ankle and to make my own website www.angelfire.com/music6/weewah in honor of them. Keep up the great work guys. I love you.

  • One Hot Minute
    author: Joe To Go

These guys play great down home rock and roll! No frills, no glam, no metal. Just good old rock roll for the next generation of future rockers with an ear for where rock really began and where Boxkar is taking it.

  • Modern rock born out of the classic rock era!
    author: Brad Lemerond

Caught these guys as an opening act, only heard the last three songs and was sold on the spot! Immediatly hit the merchandise table to buy this cd and haven't stopped playing it since. Catchy songs, hook laden riffs and great vocals that reach out and grab you! Trust me, BUY IT!
