"The Twins...have the uncanny chemistry that only comes from making music together since birth. I'm a total sucker for Eisley-esque harmonies, the kind where you can't tell where one voice ends and the other begins, and The Bowmans have the gift." -Chris

notes

The debut CD from The Bowmans ranges from folky acoustic, harmony-laced ballads to rock songs infused with classical and gospel influences, and their sound has been compared to Gillian Welch, Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, to name a few. Sarah and Claire Bowman share the rare, intuitive bond common to twins who have performed together since childhood, and because of this they are clearly always on the same musical page. Sarah’s lyrics and vocals range from reminiscently droll to poignantly sublime. Together, the twins’ harmonies are uncanny, seeming to come simultaneously from one astonishing voice.

"Far From Home" has become a top seller on New York’s antifolk.net and has received positive acclaim from top national music blogs, daily papers across the nation, and in the New York and European press. The Bowmans’ music has been aired on NPR’s All Songs Considered, charted across the UK and Europe and is currently being serviced to College and Independent Radio stations throughout the US.

In 2006, The Bowmans aggressively toured the US for over four months, both on their own and as support for Rasputina, selling over 1000 CDs along the way and building up a national fan base. Later that year they extended their tour to include 35 shows in the UK and Europe, to great critical acclaim. Following their official April 10, 2007 release of "Far From Home" on Mother West, The Bowmans will embark on yet another nationwide tour throughout the Spring, followed by more festivals and shows as they head back to Europe in the Summer.

I heard them play "the kitchen song" live on a radio station in la and immediately looked them up to buy their cd not knowing what any of the other songs sounded like. The rest of the album succeeded my expectations to the point where I have bought this cd for two other people who were also blown away by the bowmans' music. A must have for your library no matter what your musical tastes lean towards.

  • Wonderfully pretty music!

Sweet, ethereal creations with a tinge of blues and alt-country. Very well produced, although the volume is low at certain points throughout the album. The singer(s) sound something like Eisley or Sixpence None the Richer. Overall a great buy!

  • Creative from start to finish

Well produced. The time spent crafting this great collection of original songs is obvious from the very beginning. As the mood flows from a New Orleans influenced horn-section to the folk infused segments throughout, this CD is flawless in its presentation.

  • Was the best thing you can get if you go to a conceret of an unknown band!!!

Porker song forever! Great lyrics and an ideal cd if you're travelling or on the road with the car. But also a cd to sit in your room when it's raining and grey outside. the voices of the twins are just overhelming good!
