notes
Based in Brooklyn, Boss Tweed plays original songs that stem from the darker side of Americana and roots music. The trio is fronted by double threat Carolyn Sills on the Fender Jazz bass and lead vocals. "To say that Sills' singing is sultry is an immense understatement. Her vocals resonate with a throaty anguish, torch songs sung straight from the heart…" (Vintage Guitar Magazine)
Boss Tweed also features a dynamite hollowbody Gretsch guitar player, Gerard Egan, whose classic but innovative style conjures the larger than life sound of yesterday's guitar heroes. "Egan's licks are cool and classic, but his groove is soulful and deep rather than in-your-face flash... (VGM)
Boss Tweed's soaring male/female harmonies intertwine in both twangy rock n' roll numbers and eerie blues tunes, making for a must see, high energy show. They independently released their self-titled, debut album in 2005.
Boss Tweed's upcoming release on Silent Stereo Records is as classic as its sound: a classic vinyl 45, recorded analog with an eight-track tape machine and mastered by famed engineer Don Grossinger.

A stylish and intimate sound with hints of rockabilly.
author: Blues BunnyThis trio has an intimate musical style based around the interplay of guitarist Gerard Egan and drummer Eric Reed. And in vocalist (and bassist) Carolyn Sills’ they have the perfect accompaniment. She has a floating, soaring quality to her voice that just works perfectly with this material. Highlights are “Pretty Violent” and “Done Wonders” both of which perfectly showcase their stylish, understated approach.
Great CD; Great band
author: JonThis is a great debut disc from Boss Tweed. Certainly a blend of rockabilly, blues and soul as stated, but they bring their own style and delivery to the table. Strong, soulful vocals by Sills (and one immensely well-sung song by Egan), super-tight rhythm section and outstanding guitar work. Fantastic disc, DEFINITELY check these guys out live if you can, their sound is just as big in person.
Totally New Sound... Grabs your attention and keeps your ear
author: RonThe sound of this group is very different than anything I have heard. It is easy to hear the regional influeneces of the band members all combining together. Each member adds a unique signature to the overall end result. It is easy to listen to, yet deep enough to get you to think about the message that is to be portrayed. This is a must have for your CD Collection , A little something for everyone!!
