notes

Produced by Jason Marcus (Death of Fashion) and
mastered by industry great Fred Kevorkian (The White
Stripes, Lou Reed, Sonic Youth, and Phish), "Ostrich"
showcases The Boroughs' knack for penning catchy,
melodic, rock songs that burst with energy.

Formed in 2003, the band consisting of Ryan Dwork (vocals, guitar), Grady Feldgus (drums) and Justin Farrell (bass) play loud, melodic, passionate rock n roll. Like their influences: The Clash, Lou Reed, Nirvana, The Violent Femmes, The Ramones and CCR, The Boroughs write and perform music that moves the mind, body and soul.

Ryan Dwork and Grady Feldgus met while attending the School of Visual Arts in NYC. The two bonded over common influences (Ramones, CCR, The Clash) and started The Boroughs in 2003. After a stint with another bassist, the band added Justin Farrell to complete the trio.

The Boroughs are a real NYC band, not a bunch of guys from Ohio living in Williamsburg who claim to be New Yorkers. Sneaking into CBGB's when they were just kids allowed the guys to form a real appreciation for underground music.  "We learned to play like our lives depend on it. That's what it means to be a New York band."

In 2004, The Boroughs were selected out of thousands to participate in Little Steven's Underground Garage Rock Festival and Guitar World's M.E.A.N.Y. fest.

Since day one the band's goals remain the same-- play shows, make records, pay rent and of course ROCK! The Boroughs unleashed their EP to rave reviews, live shows and chaos continue to ensue.

Great sound, great band, amazing songs. Captures the energy of the live sound and brings a little more to the table. Keep on with the rockin!

  • The kind of music you would hear at the hipest bar in town

Each song is so memorable and rockin that it would be impossible to pick a favorite. Buddy would be proud.

OSTRICH is a refreshingly interesting combination of great rock music and vocals. I believe that with enough promotion and radio air time, THE BOROUGHS, could possibly one day be as big as The Beatles!

  • This could be one of the best CD's I have ever heard!

This CD rocks...There's no band out there that can beat it!

  • This CD ROCKS!

I just finished listening to this CD. WOW! I don't normally write reviews, but I felt compelled in this case. The sound is an amalgamation of The Ramones/Nirvana/Buddy Holly/Green Day and the Velvet Underground. The songs have great hooks and the guitar player has real chops. If you like old school punk and 50's rock this is the album for you. Personally my two favorites songs on the album are Gone Too Far and Dine n Ditch. This CD Rocks!

  • WOW!! This was really fantastic!
