The Holy Grail Pop Companion gushes, "the bootLICKERS power pop ranks in the upper stratosphere (see Jason Falkner, Matthew Sweet). The cocktail mix would probably be: 1 part Go-Go's, 2 parts Beatles, & a dash of Dollywood!"

Irreverant stage shows, a love of music, and great songs have captivated bootLICKER audiences all along the east coast for the past five years.

It all began with the release of their "highly promising debut" CD Universal Nancy, which has been acclaimed by critics as "charming and infinitely clever, mixing delicious irony and heartfelt lyrics" and "bookended by the 'roll down the windows, let your hair down and belt it out' pure power pop-fest of 'Lovely' and 'Sure of You'!".

But now with their new opus, HUGE, the Bootlickers are systematically invading American airwaves, exploiting the wicked underbelly of power pop! From epic tales of tinseltown's finest "Margo Fontaine and the Hollywood Kids" to the power pop anthem "Love Comes Back" to the haunting paranoia of "Breathe", a listening of HUGE will leave any fine citizen both exhilarated and exhausted!!

Upon recording HUGE, the Bootlickers decided to f@*# with convention a bit, this time around enlisting the percussive talents of June Bromley, once the touring drummer for Kitty Wells, the queen of country music! Building upon the homegrown feel of their debut Universal Nancy, the new material just screams bigger and bolder under the reins of producer Paul Sinclair (Badlees). Try it on for size!

  • "Huge" is a feel-good CD. A feel-real-good CD!

"Huge" is a feel-good CD. A feel-real-good CD! I knew within ten seconds of the first song that I loved it. I could tell by the big grin breaking out on my face. It is THAT infectious. It is one of those CDs best played in the car, speeding down the open highway way, with the windows open, wishing you had a convertible. I remember the joy of listening to music that powerful before. Well, I can think of the Raspberries' "Drivin' Around" and Chicago's "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It is?"...no, not the same sound...but for me the same feeling: musical joy. John McNeill has the perfect voice to lead a power pop band. The BootLICKERS capture it. Buy this album.
