notes
The musical histories of the members of Boccigalupe and the Badboys are as extensive as the history of the Asbury Park music scene itself.
Asbury Park born-and bred keyboardist Tony Amato, a.k.a. "Boccigalupe," has been a member of almost every band that was part of the 1970's Asbury Park music scene. Centered around the Stone Pony, the Fastlane, the Upstage Coffee House and other clubs, that same scene gave then-budding musicians like Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny, and later, Jon Bon Jovi a chance to hone their skills before rising to international prominence.
OVERVIEW
Bocci - ga -loop & The Bad Boys: They're the real thing.
Boccigalupe & The Badboys - It's My Turn, Now:
Eleven songs exploring aspects of life growing up in the
world of music, with it's trials and tribulations.
It's My Turn, Now: opens with the title track, as
true to the Asbury Sound as your gonna get, but an
updated version of the sound.
Hot Blues, a basic thanks for the good time, but you
broke me down. Love On the Run, is a let's give it a
try song. She's Evil, a Santana style blues feel,
self-explanatory. Forever, written by Little Steven
Van Zandt, A desperate plea, a wish, an obsession to
be embraced and absorbed and saved by music.
Karma, I found the girl of my dreams, a sexy ballad.
Rifle Sight, a tongue in cheek reggae rocker. The
Way of the World, R & B style, questioning one's
self in relationships. Movin' On Down the Line,
a straight ahead rocker, you get the picture.
Heartbreak,a Motown self-pity bit. Until the Good
Is Gone, a revamp of Little Steven's song about
growing up.

I LOVE It! It's the quintessential Jersey Shore sound
author: PaulaBocci's new cd Just recieved my copy of "It's My Turn Now" and I LOVE It! It's the quintessential Jersey Shore sound I have been missing out here on the Left Coast! I can almost picture myself in the middle of The Pony's dancefloor, again, with this one! Thanks, Guys! Waaay cool! While, i love the Little Steven Covers, I have to say that (so far) "She's Evil" and Karma" are right up there with my faves. Love the Samba rhythm and horns! Keyboards on "Hot Blues" are tough, too! These pics could change with every listen! It's #1 in rotation in my CD player! Nice work! Congratulations!
It's My Turn, Now, a great gumbo of musical styles
author: Kweevak’s TracksBOCCIGALUPE AND THE BADBOYS – IT'S MY TURN, NOW: It's My Turn, Now is the latest release from New Jersey rockers Boccigalupe and the Badboys. Tony Amato, who was born and raised in Asbury Park, is the keyboardist, vocalist, arranger and producer for the band. Tony was an important part of the historic 1970's shore music scene. Amato aka Boccigalupe and others crafted a unique popular sound that is still relevant today. The Badboys are also talented knowledgeable musicians. Cooperatively they have years of experiences playing in various bands exploring different styles. Collectively they form a cohesive unit. Their music draws on traditional rock, R&B, merging into forceful blues mixed with roots rock rhythms and soulful horns. Tony's grand Hammond B3 adds plenty of zest to well crafted songs. Most of the band members sing thus adding diversity and contributing to fluid harmonies. This eleven song CD is a fun energetic collection about life and emotions. I recently had the pleasure of see the band live and they are energizing. They have a powerful personable stage presence complete with some unique tricks such as playing instruments backwards. 'It's My Turn, Now' the title track opens up with lively horns and simmering instrumentation throughout. Tony's lyrics are reflective but the song is upbeat and a prime example of the great chemistry the band has. 'She's Evil' has a sexy, funky grove complete with evil keys, soulful vocals and smoldering blues based guitars. 'Moving On Down The Line' soars on smokin' guitars, fast paced beats and furious keys. It's My Turn, Now is a great gumbo of musical styles dished out by top-notch musicians–enjoy! • Recommended Tracks: (1,4,9) [USA/NJ 2000 - web] (Review by Laura Turner Lynch for Kweevak.com)
