notes

Bob Sima is the lead singer/songwriter for the successful acoustic power folk trio STEREOPOOL from the Annapolis, MD area as well as an emerging solo artist. As a locally grown talent, Stereopool made a name for themselves in the local and regional scene of Maryland for their brand of energetic, evocative acoustic power folk music. They shared the stage with NRBQ, Eddie from Ohio, Ari Hest, and many local legends.

After landing a deal with a UK Based distributor (Smart Choice Music), Bob’s song “Amazed By You” was selected for their 10,000 unit compilation that also featured a track from Lyle Lovett and several other heavy hitters in folk/Americana circles. The CD was featured on the cover of Maverick Magazine in 2006 and has generated sales from around the world.

While performing many of the band’s shows as a solo effort, Bob began to feel the desire to explore his diverse songwriting and create a solo record. In November 2006, Bob released his first solo release entitled “Pour It On”.

POUR IT ON is produced by David Weber (Krista Detor, Carrie Newcomer) and is an amazing collection of songs captured "in the moment" with a very live feel. It features some stellar players including Krista Detor, who's vocal and piano work is tightly woven into the spirit of the record. Players include Jason Wilbur (John Prine, Todd Snider, Iris Dement), Slats Klug, Brandt Smith, Jamey Reed and Jack Helsley. The songs range from quiet lullabies, sultry duets, to poppy acoustic toe tappers and even a full out folk/gospel epic. The songs were immaculately captured by David Weber in what is a truly exceptional new release for Bob.

Bob has been featured and is receiving airplay on major market station Z104 (DC), WRNR (Annapolis, MD) as well as WTMD (Baltimore, MD), WRYR (Churchton, MD) the song "Amazed By You” has landed him in the top 1% of all time in the Acoustic Genre at GARAGEBAND.COM. He has also reached #2 ALL-Time in Male Vocals (Acoustic). His music has won awards from Songwriteruniverse.com, has been webcasted, podcasted and beamed through satellite radio waves.

Press:
“GOOSEBUMPS…Bob Sima’s “Pour It On” has deep deep tracks and is nothing short of spectacular."
Michael Sutton (MusicDish.Com)

“This man has a way with writing songs. He's a master at capturing the subject of a song not just in his insightful and catchy lyrics, but also in the music and riffs that make them flow. Whether he's singing about the world through his 4-year-old son's eyes or through the eyes of a guy who just got out of a relationship with a rather, uh, chilly girlfriend, Bob gets the point across with style.”
Ryan Simmons (Concerts On Bonnie Branch)

“I see artists doing major things in the industry with songs and cd’s that are not even close to what Bob has put out….certainly a contender for the CD OF THE YEAR.”
Rod Deacy (Owner and Talent Buyer-Westside Café, Frederick, MD)

“Put Bob Sima on your "Go See Live" list. This CD proves he deserves it.”
Ty Ford (Music Monthly)

“This is exactly what you have been looking for. …one incredible CD. A four-star recommendation from CoffeeHouseTour!”
Heather Corcoran (CoffeeHouseTour.Com)

“He’s not self-consciously trying to ape Matthews, but the resemblance is there, and it is undeniable, especially in Bob Sima's vocal work.”
Kyrby Raine (INK19.com)

“Nice guy writing nice guy music"
Kevin Keating (Origivation Magazine)

I ended up hearing Bob Sima by default. I went to see Jesse Harris and Bob was the opening act. I loved what I heard and bought this CD. It is now one of my favorites, and I am letting everyone I know listen to it. I have even had a few friends as for copies (but I know copying CDs is bad Karma!) Every song on the CD is terrific. Keep it up and keep pushing WRNR-this music is perfect for their playlist. Let me know when the next CD is out!

This album runs the gamut from quiet and reflective to funky and TURN IT UP! Somewhere between Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson you'll find Bob Sima's own unique sound. You're gonna love this one.

I think Bob's CD is fantastic, and I play it every day! This is why I never play my radio any more! Not only is the music appealing to lots of folks who otherwise may not have picked up a copy, but once they hear the music and it grabs them they get blown away by the lyrics. I would recommend this CD and definitely can't wait to see another Bob Sima show. Hope to get you back to NJ/NY, Bob.

"Pour It On" is a fantastic gem. All of the tracks emanate a passion for music. 'Gravity' is such an insightful, feel-good tune. Great songs, great performances, great production--an all-around great album.

For lack of better words, this CD is amazing. It blends in to all moods and settings (dinner parties, campfires, happy hours, in the car, making dinner...) and is the perfect answer for music that all generations enjoy. It is by far the most played CD in our home.

  • An excellent CD - should be getting more airplay!
    author: Lauri Lee

Bob Sima has produced a wonderful CD, and I'm surprised it is not getting more attention nationwide. I've been listening to it in my car, and the songs are easily as good, if not considerably better, than the stuff that we hear on the radio all the time from people like John Mayer and Dave Matthews. Bob is a tremendously talented songwriter; not only are the tunes catchy, but also the lyrics are clever and often thought-provoking. The song "Gravity" is one of the best on the CD, in my opinion, and not just because it has a talking hummingbird in it! I highly recommend that you listen to the CD, and go see Bob live if you have the opportunity.

  • WOW. and did i mention WOW!!!
    author: David Swetz

This is the best CD I've heard since Krista Detor's Mudshow or Robbie Schaefer's In The Flesh. First, Bob Sima is a great songwriter. A great storyteller. These songs are great with Bob solo, and with the group of musicians on the disc, they are hard to top. Bob's voice is clear and strong, and Krista Detor/David Weber give this collection a richness rarely found. This is a must have if you love singer/songwriters. Your ears will love you for it...
