notes
Clifton Williams and the Blue James Band are a rock, reggae, folk, and funk train riding through the world of music. With songs that are both catchy and complex and live shows that are both focused and experimental, Clifton Williams and the BJB have rocked the souls of music lovers everywhere.
The captain of this train is Clifton Williams. As a songwriter, Clifton relies heavily on the skills he acquired as a graduate student in the field of music composition. As a musician, he relies heavily on his love for skillful rock-n-roll that began when he mastered his first Slash solo at 12 years old. His songs and performances are fun and funky, melodic and
progressive, and full of Clifton’s laid-back California vibe. With the Blue James Band, the talent just exponentially grows.
The good news is that there is more music coming! Clifton Williams and the BJB have just completed their second album, WILL, due out October 27th, 2008. Written and produced by Clifton, WILL is a reflection of this band’s determination to keep playing and writing good music. Recorded in California, North Carolina, and Virginia, the songs echo the free spirit and joy for life at the heart of Clifton Williams and the BJB. With veteran mixer Jack Gauthier (Dispatch, State Radio) on the roster, WILL has a decidedly rootsy and organic vibe. The pop-infused “Don’t Waste the Days” and the reggae-tinged “Believe” have memorable hooks and loads of lyrical style, while “Down This Path” and “Sunday Afternoon” showcase the impressive musicianship the band is known for.
Simply put, WILL will rock your socks off. So come along and join the music joyride of Clifton Williams and the Blue James Band!

Floating back and forth between jam bandy reggae/pop and blues...
author: Mike FarleyThis band is fronted by Cliff Williams, and not a guy named James. But that’s not really an issue here, because this is some pretty cool stuff. Floating back and forth between jam bandy reggae/pop and bluesy rock, Blue James features the catchy songs and smooth rock voice of Williams, all the while accompanied by some really great musicianship. The best comparison I can offer is a cross between Paul Simon and Sting, and the best tracks are “Remember Me” and “Going Home.”
