love loves to love love.
falling through the webs of AM static clinging to the eardrums of the
ranchers and disheartened farmhands, static in a hundred Japanese

author: NeumuBlitzen Trapper have more than talent alone. They have this quirky knack for merging traditionally non-mergeable sounds and making it work. And well! They cross country twang with spacey electronics, classic indie rock vocals (think Stephen Malkmus meets Isaac Brock) with R&B grooves. With a punk-rock sort of defiance to rules, Blitzen Trapper have stumbled upon an inventive way to make indie rock interesting again.

Blitzen Trapper have earned a handful of fans in their native Portland, Ore., for their playful, ADD-like songs, but their sophomore effort shouldn't be dismissed as fluff-- Field Rexx is an earnest crack at bluegrass, country, and folk that's young and brazen enough to incorporate elements from multiple genres. [...] Quirkiness isn't the main selling point of Field Rexx, however-- it simply has a healthy sense of variation. There's a lot of disparate, whimsical sonic elements in the disc's earlier songs, and they're tastefully incorporated, but most of the memorable twists and turns are provided the old-fashioned way, like the subtle guitar lead in "Summer Twin". On Field Rexx, Blitzen Trapper may not take the same chances as other genre-bending artists, but nor do they strive to. It simply (and successfully) aims a back-porch country/folk album for left-of-the-dial tastes.

Better than digital chess, or a chest of broken beehives, or concrete chewing gum. I lost my wedding ring in this album!

Four Tracks?
author: Angelo De Ieso IIThis album has been so anticipated since BT's self-titled release a year and a half ago or so. Field Rexx features crowd favorites now available on CD...cuts such as Cold Gold Diamond, 40 Stripes, and Leopard's Will...I love how the Earley family tree is represented with some clips from 1982 which blend nicely with BT's modern countrified rock sound. And it seems ludacris that this sick album was done on a 4-track for 22$. Just proof that Trapper is Portland's most innovative and perhaps most talented group.

A noradrenaline-induced serotonin liberation of Raphe neurons is suggested as possible underlying mechanism. Like a dove landing in your cereal. And in this, as in so much, this is the album that serves you well when you're tired of leaning across the room to get your hand back.
