Fab stuff and a unique voice
author: Steve HowardThanks to the BBC for playing Dead Egyptian Blues when I was driving home from work - had to buy the CD, and the highlight is My Life - have been waking up to this track and then staying in bed to listen to the whole album...puts me in a good mood for the whole day. Bernice has an amazing voice with a vibrato that is truly amazing; her musical arrangements are subtle and beautiful. She deserves to be much better known over in the UK - please come to England and put on a concert for us!
Best version of Dead Egyptian Blues
author: Sue JamesI admit it. I bought this album for Dead Egyptian Blues. It's just a brilliant version and we sing along and laugh every time we play it. Love Bernice's voice throughout the album - really clear and strong.
Great voice, very atmospheric
author: Gary PateyHeard "Dead Egyption Blues" on the BBC and just had to get it. Rest of the album is very good and I love Bernice's voice and her clear diction. Any suggestions for other Lewis puchases
dead egyptian blues...she owns it
author: anthony markman...riverdale, nyjune '05...you have to give this album 5 stars, but for no reason that is obvious, maybe...except this singer's version of DEAD EGYPTIAN BLUES...she owns it and you will know it, and everyone gathered round the cd transport will nod (and resonate) and agree...but there is more...not her voice, it's kind of nasal, and folksy as the woods, and twangy too...but there is goodness and purity, just as surely as there is cliche in this review...listen to SAD MOVIES second...it works, she works...
This Music Can't be Stolen!
author: Maureen ConnollyMy original copy was stolen 5 years ago and could never find another conventionally but never stopped thinking of how I loved every single song. Luckily, was directed to CDBaby and have it again to listen to and sing loudly too, over and over. Funny, touching and real.
If you wanna get hooked, give a listen here.
author: Bob ChaseThe songs on this CD cover an amazing range of human emotion, from private whimsy (I Need a Wife Too & Commercial Love) to devastating social commentary (Break this Circle) to the outrageously funny (Dead Egyptian Blues)"written by Michael Smith". This artist feels life passionately and writes songs from her heart and from her own life's experience. This one is a MUST in your Bernice Lewis collection.
