(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

Harmonica-driven Blues/Rock, soulful lyrics, a powerful voice, insane guitar and rich drums to make your body groove. CD launched at BB Kings, LA, CA.

notes

There's a new harmonica slinger in town...

This formerly British-based, harmonica lead Blues outfit cut their teeth playing a number of clubs in the London area, where for 10 years, they were the mainstay of the British Blues scene. They also toured Germany and the Czech Republic, where they played the Golem Blues Festival with headliner BB King.

Paul Vallis, lead vocals and harmonica, skillfully threads together the styles of his own mentors, Junior Wells and Sugar Blue with a modern blues vibe of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Buddy Guy. Paul has appeared with Beverly Skeets, Mica Paris and the legendary Slim Gaylard. Vallis brings a new and unique interpretation of Blues harmonica to the fore and by adding soulful vocals, takes bleedingHARP to another level altogether.

Vallis has since relocated to the States and pulled together a new line-up featuring guitarist Jeff Marshall, world class drummer Bobby Jarzombek and former Lucinda Williams bass player James Kirk. They are currently gigging in and around the Southland. According to "Southland Blues" Magazine, "Vallis burns up the stage". Their new CD , "Gotta Have" was released in May 2oo4.

Awesome harp playin', great technique, and the guitar work awesome as well, throw in a very talented drummer and bass player -(and I do mean "very talented") and this c.d. packs a nice kick -the vocals are o.k. they kinda' remind me..... of a zz top/Huey Lewis sound. Lyrics are a weak point though, they're not very deep, or imaginative. if these boys got themselves a good lyricist it would be hard not to let the c.d. live in the stereo

  • Great harp playing and a good groove

Sometimes it just seems that it's hard to be impressed by a new band nowdays, but Bleeding Harp's definately got what it takes to make musicians like us smile and inevitably want to steal some licks. Good job!

  • Killer!

A true coming of age recording-wise! This CD burns with real blues and feeling, dripping sweet guitar licks and red-hot harmonica all over some tasty tracks. I'm not normally one for instrumentals, but check out Vallis' blistering harmonica on Creeper Returns! There's also 3 tracks from the album by a previous incarnation of the group from the UK, updated and sounding fine. I remember them from the 12 Bar Club in London - if you get a chance, check out their storming live show!

  • Filled with contemporary hues and rollicking blues

Vallis' blues harp... serves as the band's centerpiece and works out as its strongest feature. His searing melodies and sustained phrases serve as a thread that weaves itself through the program...The album's lone instrumental number, "Creeper Returns," digs in solidly and lifts you up by your shirt collar. Vallis and Marshall fog the windows with the steam that escapes from their instruments. Together, the band members give their audience a complete program that's filled with contemporary hues and rollicking blues.
