ABOUT US:
Formed in the winter of 2003 by musicians and interactive performers desiring to improve upon previous performance experiences, Blackjacks 'n Blarney is a high energy song and comedy troupe currently performing on the renaissance faire circuit and at regional pubs and folk festivals. With quick wit and light-hearted songs, they're live shows will involve you in the musical and comical story of their "grand" adventures since becoming traveling minstrels and privateers. Namely… surviving each other! From swords and beers, to love and its pitfalls, to minstrel merriment and musical mayhem, this celtic quartet with a piratical flair will have your toes tappin' and leave your sides hurting from laughter as they present their tales.

Lift your Blackjacks high and let the Blarney fly with... Blackjacks ‘n Blarney!!!

BLACKJACKS 'N BLARNEY IS:
Maria V. Arnold (Anita "Black Widow" Montoya)
Melanie A.T. Reyne (Capt. Katherine "Mad Kat" O'Malley)
David Reyne (Duncan Ian "Sir Gallonhand" MacGuiness)
David Sterenchock (Davyn "Greenman" Leafslayer)

A BIT ABOUT THE ALBUM...
The majority of songs on the album are traditional (with a few that are a bit PG-13!) with a wide variety of musical styles and genres. BJnB enjoys taking songs that people might be familiar with and twisting or tweeking them just a bit to make them our own. For our original work please check out My Magical Place and The Battered Mug.

  • Pyrate CD Review
author: from The Pyrates Way Magazine, Autumn '07

"Two folks walked up to me dressed in their pyratey best at the end of a long, hot day in August at The Maryland Renaissance Faire (I never miss a day if I can). They were recent subscribersand wanted to know if I'd be interested in reviewing their CD. I'm handed home-made CDs all the time but this one seemed to be professionally put together and I said "aye, mate...I'll take a listen." They thanked me and made their way out of the main gate with me. When I popped the CD into the Pyrate's Way Pilot's system for the long ride back to my home in Delaware I was very pleasantly surprised by what came through the speakers. A great quality sound engineering production, the pyratey music on the CD took me on a happy trip through some great chanties. There were some standards like Cuckoo's Nest, Charlie Mopps and Roll Your Leg Over, but there were chanties I'd not experienced that I thoroughly enjoyed. Of the CD, five new songs were so well presented that they now have a permanent in my iPod: Sea Monkey, Katie's Boat, The Battered Mug, My Magical Place and Water is Wide. Want something new yet traditional that will keep your flag flying? Get this CD!

  • Good fun and fantastic singing
    author: matt

I've seen these guys at Renaissance Faires and they're a load of fun. They have fantastic singing and can really project, and they do a lot of "racy" and "dirty" songs - sometimes they add their own verses which are hilarious. But they also do some beautiful and wistful folk material, and do a fantastic job of it. Their CD is like a snapshot of their live show, with jokes and comments in between lines at times. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys the rennaisance faire kind of fun mix of traditional and contemporary with a sense of humor.
