Hi, I’m Teresa Gasca-Burk , creator of BIRDIE and I am so thrilled you have found your way to our music! I know that what your child listens to is important to you. It’s important to me, too! I’ll bet you are looking for something special. Something upbeat, with a positive message for your child or children. You’ve come to the right place! BIRDIE is a musical celebration for families. We blend catchy melodies, positive lyrics and pleasing harmonies into a dancing, fun experience for all! If it’s something to move to that your looking for, then give “Pasta Jiggle” or “Licorice Twist” a listen to. If it’s bedtime and you want to wind your little one down, try “Birdie” or “Gabriel”. Or if you’re just looking for something inspirational, up-beat and fun, “Rainbow” and “Happy Thoughts” are the songs for you and your family! Our music is very interactive. When we perform live, no one is sitting in their seat. They are on their feet moving and singing with us! With BIRDIE, you can create the same experience at home. Try putting a scarf in your child’s hand as they listen to “Rainbow” and you will watch a smile appear as they paint rainbows in the sky. You can give them a train whistle as they listen and move to “Sugar Cane Train” I know you will enjoy choo-chooing around the living room with them! After more than ten years of teaching both dance and music to kids from two to twelve, I’ve discovered all kids love to dance and sing! In fact, BIRDIE is inspired by my students and my own two children. As a teacher and mother I am in awe of the power, positive influence and beauty that music plays in the lives of my students and my own family. I felt guided to write my own music for kids and BIRDIE was born. I have found music to be the most effective way to reach children. It turns a frown into a smile, builds a child’s self esteem, and helps kids to excel in school. Music creates joy wherever it is allowed to be freely expressed.. I am confident BIRDIE will create joy in your child, too! I am so grateful that BIRDIE includes the talents of my husband and writing partner, Gary Burk. Gary is not only a wonderful guy, he’s an amazing guitar player! Check out his solo on “Licorice Twist”. Gary and I have been writing and performing together for over 15 years. We met in Los Angeles in the late 80's, blended our writing talents and began performing with our band in some of LA’s top venues, including The Troubadour, The Palomino, Club Lingerie, and At My Place. After moving to the Central Coast in 1994, we shifted gears and became an acoustic duo, playing in clubs, bookstores and coffee houses from Santa Barbara to Cambria. Finally, the long and winding road has led us to writing and performing for kids and we love it!!! We are honored by the genius and talents of our longtime, good friend, Curt Bisquera. Curt co-produced BIRDIE and programmed all of the amazing drum tracks. If you’d like to know more about Curt, check out his website at www.curtbisquera.com. He’s quite the artist who’s performed and recorded with Tom Petty, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt, and Seal to name a few. The wonderful finishing touches of keyboards and background vocals are the work of the talented and beautiful Daniela Spagnola. Daniela has an amazing gift. If I close my eyes when she’s singing, I’d swear it was Ella Fitzgerald. Daniela is quite an accomplished jazz vocalist. She performs regularly with Joe Picaro, John Chiodini, and Abe Laboriel Sr. Thanks to the incredible support we’ve received from our fans, we are currently in the studio recording our second CD. We are so excited with what we’ve recorded so far. This time Curt recorded live and the drums are amazing! You can also look forward to beautiful performances by the great Terry Lawless on piano, sax, and flute. Terry is currently working with U-2, to give you an idea of the caliber of musician he is.
