Lots of moods, and whether hard-driving, thoughtful or dryly humorous, the music is always super-catchy without being churned out corny crap; it has the ability to powerfully connect the listener to their own experiences.

notes
billy moon is a Seattle based band led by singer-songwriter, Kristy Karen Smith (vocals, acoustic/electric guitar). Steve Smith (drums & percussion), Bruce Hazen (guitar), and Alan Paisley (bass) complete their acoustic/electric pop sound. These four talented friends started playing music together in September of 1995 after playing seperately and in various combinations over the years in such favorites as 3 Track Mind, Raised By Poodles, Ian Matthews, HI FI and Zero Deals.
In November of 1997 billy moon released their original version of "Storm Before The Calm" and were subsequently signed to an enthusiastic and spirited young label. After investing considerable time and energy revising existing material as well as recording new material, the relationship cooled and billy moon found themselves poised to deliver an arguabley stronger version of their original title. It was ultimately released in the summer of 2000.
Michael Shrieve, former drummer for Santana and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee says, "Kristy Karen Smith writes songs that come straight from her heart and echo through the hearts of those who listen. billy moon exemplifies what great music is all about." And from Carla DeSantis of ROCKRGRL magazine, "billy moon's songs are stick-in-your-head memorable. As a judge in the Discmaker's Unsigned Band Competition, I couldn't help but give them the highest score possible."
Truly unlike anything you've heard coming out of the Northwest. A fan writes, "Wow!!! K.K.Smith's songs are better, in my view, than the other Lilith Fair types to whom she'll inevitably be compared. Plus, the backing is tremendous.

Every time I listen I enjoy it more. I can't keep myself from singing along. The writing is fun but can really strike an emotional chord. Brilliant.
WOW!!
author: Joanna KoehlerWOW!! Is what comes to mind when attempting to describe this talented group and fantastic CD. The songs touched my heart, lifted my spirit, and brought me to tears, and that was only by the third track! This CD is a MUST HAVE for anyone's collection.
LOVED IT!
author: Amy EtelamakiI haven't EVER had a CD that touched so many parts of my soul. Billy Moon are incredibly talented--lyrically, vocally & musically. I can't wait until they have a new CD available. Thanks for the great music!!
Beautiful, Moving words/vocals backed by rock solid, talented players!
author: Rose B.Billy Moon's music draws you in with wonderful and thoughtful melodies and then delivers an emotional punch with vocals and lyrics. I found myself reading the liner notes for storm before the calm while I was lisening to it the other day, and I seriously got tears in my eyes, just reading and hearing a sentiment that I so knew and could feel. Kristy's words are honest and real. As for her band, these guys know what the H-E double hockey sticks they're doing! So anyway, I guess my review is: storm before the calm kicks ass!
