notes
Billy Marquis didn't learn the blues he earned the blues.
The kind of blues he plays is the kind that leads to destruction or death, or the most gut-wrenching soul-purifying music this side of the grave.
And that my friend is the blues Billy Marquis style!

Songs good now as it did then!
author: MarioMr. Billy Marquis where are you? The Blues and Beyond presents what was then; And YES, it still sounds ever good right now! Billy takes you to his backyard of Indianola right off Highway 82, over to Greenville on Walnut Street, through broken love, and speaks of racial indiference in the Mississippi Delta. The Blues and Beyond is timeless... Good stuff, Mario
Great songs, great playing.
author: Ricky StevensAlthough US 61 is the main North/South route through the Delta, the East/West route of US 82 is just as important to the people that live there. The contrasting moods of "Walnut Street" showcase the varied abilities of Billy Marquis and how they build a total package just as the two highways act to link the Delta to the rest of the world. The deep emotion of "Black and White" contrast with the hard rocking "Highway 82" in the same way that 82 and 61 cross each other, yet work together. And who would have thought of the Beatles' "Rain" as a part of a blues program? Not me-but all I can say is that in Billy Marquis's vision of the blues it works. Buy the record-you won't regret it.
