Great playing, but...
author: Osmo SeppäläBill and Larry are among the best musicians there are and also in this cd the organ solos and drumming are excellent, but I really can't understand why Kevin (and Larry) use these corny electric sounds and sampler? They are noise to my ears. (By the way the same thing in Trio Beyond).Have to jump over those tracks. What's wrong in pure Rhodes sound?
Really nice...
author: Romain SECCOI think Bill is one of the most amazing today's jazz drummer. He always had this incredible sound... This is a nice album with great musicians, some tracks are maybe not very easy to feel, but it's always a nice drumming lesson. GREAT !
amazing cd for jazz nuts...
author: Andrew NobleCD is super fab, not is the music full of the best organ, rhodes and drum playing you can find, it has a small carbon footprint as i comes in a card board sleeve!! thumbs up billy!
YEAH! nice compositions, nice grooves, nice concept
author: Julian Erdemi very much enjoy this cd because you can hear bill's fantastic grooves in a perfect transparency and sound. in addition kevin and larry perfectly fit into this cool compositions. i absolutely recommend the song "Don't Ever Call Me Again". if you like it you will enjoy this cd, too!!!
Brilliant idea brilliantly played out!
author: Steve in the UKI may be biased being both a drummer and also a member of the rapidly growing cult here in the UK which reveres Bill Stewart as a Living Drum God, but this is quite simply a brilliant idea brilliantly played out.
Is there a better drummer today?
author: r kestenBill Stewart just continues to take the drums to higher and higher levels of musicality. (Beautiful composition as well)Great to hear the different interplay with piano as compared to guitar. Of course, Larry Goldings takes the Hammond anywhere and everywhere musically, as always. Great, great date.
Great idea!
author: Aran O MalleyA great CD where did Mr Stewart get the idea of two keyboardists and nothing else but his drumming?Just goes to show that he is thinking out of the box in every way he can.Bill's drumming is as usual very unique and different on this CD.
Hip organgrooves with one of the best drummers in the world
author: MichaelGreat sound, great playing...A cool setting with drums, piano and organ that works very well, soundwise and musically! Bill Stewart keeps getting better and better, buy this record!!
Very fresh music, even though it was recorded in 2003.
author: MatthewThis is a very adventurous CD for Bill Stewart. I applaud him for his creative vision and his refusal to rest on his laurels. The tunes are forward thinking and well put together. I was not expecting to hear sampling on a Bill Stewart CD. Very cool. I think it's GREAT that it's not on a label. More power to CD Baby and independent artistry!!!!
Nice work..!
author: Ferit OdmanUnusual instrumentation, but usual sound of Bill Stewart, he keeps the airy swing all the way thru.. His originals are harmonically dark charactered but very pleasant to the ear. The interplay within the trio is great.. Check out Bill's intro on 8’th track "Squid". Nice work..
...something new is coming!!!
author: Juraj SusanikFantastic compositions and the band chemistry! So fresh, inventive and really personal. I feel it deeply! Thank you Bill, Larry and Kevin!
I can't get this off my ears...
author: Sal Alexander ManderHow can they make it seem so eazy to sound so greazy? This CD features some of the most sophisticated players bringing some tricky stuff down to the street level. What other CD could trip out MMW jamband fans while satisfying even the most discriminating jazz enthusiast? I'm glad Stewey is using CD Baby. Who wants to see him dancing on the MTV? Well, okay, but besides that, when the masses have ADD, distribute through CD Baby.
Three masters of their domain makin' it happen!
author: Tony JonesI knew the CD was going to be great from the previews on the site. Bill is the quintessential "drummer's drummer." Being a jazz drummer myself I know what I'm saying. "Good Goat" and "Don't Ever Call Me Again" stand out as my favorites. It's a pity that one of the best drummers in the world has to sell his music from CD Baby. Doesn't anybody like jazz anymore?
REALLY UNBELIEVABLE! THE BEST CONCERT AND CD EVER!!!
author: Mark WenzelI visited the concert of the Bill Stewart Trio in Berlin feat. "Keynote Speakers". It was unbelievable and the best concert ever. I had to have this CD. So I bought it at this wonderful unique shop. This record is really great: an awesome trio-conception, incredible tunes and a great unit with so much taste in playing together and creating music. A MUST FOR EVRYBODY. I hope I'll have the pleasure to listen and watch you very soon again in Berlin. I never felt this good after a concert and after listening to a record. Thank U.
Good to hear that this special setting works so well. Fantastic swinging drums a
author: Raymond KarlssonI think Keynote Speakers complement Bill Stewart´s recorded work very fine. Fantastic playing as usual together with two close playmates on keyboards. An unusual setting that works well here. Both the drums and the keyboards work a lot around coordination, so the sound can be really big and complex at times. The music is a nice balance of mind and body. One also get a healthy dose of humour here and there - nice touch! Stewart swings fantastic and is also very well recorded.
These boys really know how to take you for a greasy ride!
author: Sir Lord GanglyThese boys really know how to take you for a greasy ride! Give me some of that greasy grease and let's get all greased up! While you're at it, give me side order of grease, maa'm! And then a check when you get a chance.
Great CD, great interplay, I'm waiting for the next CD!
author: Peter MuellerI saw the trio in Munich and simply had to order the CD - I really like it! Great CD, great interplay between fantastic musicians!
bill stewart
author: mimoamazing trio set. amazing sounds. lovely work by the key players and yet another wonderful, unique bill's effort. being my absolute favourite jazz drummer and one of my favourite jazz composers (I find, inside these compositions as well as in bill's playing, a wonderful, hidden "imbecile" way to perceive the music..a very rare gift for my senses) keep it up Bill! and keep it up CDbaby! you guys rule ;) mimo deLorean
right on!
author: amsYou wouldn't want to hear anyone say "Don't Ever Call Me Again", but you'll want to hear the tune over and over! Way to go, Stewie!
Bill, you should consider turning pro!
author: Brian EddollsYou made Kevin Hays pay for a copy? I hope he got double scale on the session! Excellent recording of a daring trio. Nice nose, hints of saddle leather, licorice...
Very cool music
author: Paul MarangoniBill plays great and sounds great. The whole concept with the two organs really works.
Absolute cracker
author: Luke Robinson..... buy it for the groove, interplay, tastefulness and musicality..... absolute cracker!
another display of your musical prowess!
author: Dominic SmithI've been seeing bill play since 1990 when he was playing with peter bernstein and larry goldings at auggies passing the hat before they were stars. this album is the latest in a long line of work detailing his progress and growth into a modern legend of jazz drumming
A Must have CD
author: Kristian lethThis CD is a MUST, not only for all drummers, but for all musicians. The music on this CD, and the way it's performed is amazing
very interesting new trio format
author: music-plantgood to hear that some jazz musicians are still concerned about creating something fresh and new.the playing is excellent.
GREAT!! You're Collaboration with Larry and Kevin is Phenomenal! Kickin!
author: Scott HazenBill delivers another long awaited super session! I have never heard a trio with two keys and drums...didn't even miss the bass! Each tune is fresh and inspiring. These consummate musicians are truely 'Keynote Speakers' who together redefine the box that jazz has been put into today. I have just about worn out my copy of Bill's 'Think B4 U Think' and I just found and started listening to his out of print 'Blue Note' issues of 'Telepathy' and Snide Remarks'!! You can never get enough of Bill and his choice of 'play mates' no matter which album you listen to. God Bless you Bill for being you! I hear you Brother!!
I like it !
author: Stéphane B (France)I had the joy to hear and see them in Paris one year ago, waiting hopelessly for the recording. It's now available, and this music could be a milestone, a new step. Hard to describe, but nobody used the Hammond organ that way before, and it's a big surprise ! Well, I like it...
Music, maestro, please . . . thought provoking tunes, playing, interaction!
author: Alan CookMusic, maestro, please . . . thought provoking and inspirational tunes, playing, interaction between three masterful musicians. The ensemble make-up and dynamite compositions provide the springboard for succinct and articulate creativity. When these "Keynote Speakers" speak, we all must listen!

Bill, Love your work! Ed
Excellent
author: BobThis is a very enjoyable set of pieces -- fine musicianship, well-crafted tunes, and another 60+ minute drum lesson from Mr. Stewart, who continues to amaze. Kudos to cdbaby for providing an outlet for such great music!
Very nice
author: Brian EisenbergYup, I agree with everything everyone else is saying. Bill is my favorite straight ahead jazz drummer of all time fo sho. He has such a unique sound, and his tunes are great too which really a testament to the depth of his talent. Of course Larry Goldings and Kevin Hays don't suck either, so this is a really great record. Thanks Bill, I hope you are planning more records, I really do love Snide Remarks and Telepathy too.
another great album from Bill Stewart
author: Craig SimonOnce again Bill proves that he is not affraid of exploring new sounds. His compositions are wonderfully quirky and intricate and his drumming is as spectacular and creative as always. He teams up fantasticaly with Larry Goldings and Kevin Hays it is clear they have a great affinity for making music together.
Great
author: TedBill's "Telepathy" is one of my all-time favorites--out of print, but do all you can to lay your hands on it. This CD is totally different and enjoyable from start to finish. Bill's composing is fantastic and the trio really brings out the best in each other.
