notes
Bill McAvoy is from the Coastal Plain physiographic province of the Delmarva Peninsula and on this CD he tries his best to create a musical sound from long ago, a sound strongly influenced by the natural world. Musically, Bill weaves a dark tale of misfortune in an historical landscape that today is quite different from the past. Bill's use of fiddle, banjo, and a variety of folk instruments, such as jawbone and mouthbow, construct a sound that is primitive and from-the-earth. You will find new and progressive arrangements to many of these old traditional tunes and songs, and even new lyrics as well. So allow yourself to be taken away to a time and place long ago where the woods were thick and the mud was deep.

A wonderfully unique sound that is both old and new.
This music transports the listener to a different time and place, yet the feeling and passion the songs convey is timeless.
