notes
Bill Dees is rock and rolls unknown legend. You may not know him but you've heard his music.
Bill wrote or co-wrote 64 songs with Roy Orbison that Roy recorded, including the worldwide smash hits "Oh, Pretty Woman" and "It's Over". His songs have been cut by a diverse group of artists including, Johnny Cash, Al Green, Loretta Lynn, Van Halen, Dinah Shore, and The Germs.
Not just a songwriter, Bill is an outstanding vocalist, that's him singing high harmony on "Oh, Pretty Woman" and many other Orbison tunes. It is high praise indeed to be asked to harmonize with the man Elvis Presley called "the greatest singer in the world".
Bills voice has been described as "Orbison range with a soulful edge".
Amazingly through all of this Bill has remained anonymous. This c.d. "Saturday Night At The Movies" is his first release, it is filled with songs from the Orbison/Dees era including two never before released gems that the two collaborated on shorly before Roy's passing.
If you are an Orbison fan this album is a must have, get the rest of the story. If you are interested in the history of rock and roll this a piece of the puzzle that has been sadly overlooked, if you are an audiophile you will love the big room sound of the way records used to be made, or if you are just a music fan who loves great songs, discover Bill Dees.

What a treasure, Bill and his music!!! Met Bill at PHS reunion, such a delight. Have always loved Roy's music. Meeting the artist who wrote/co-wrote the most beautiful songs, has me eager for "the rest of the story!"
Saturday Night at the Movies
author: JulieGreat sounds from the 60's era. Especially liked it as we had met Bill at a restaurant a few days before and really enjoyed his music.

Excellent album! Great voice and great songs!
author: Harris GoodmanIt was great hearing these songs done by the OTHER co-writer. Ride Away has been one of my favorites for years and Bill's version is a different, but no less valid reading than Roy's. Arrangements are uniformly terrific. I'm so glad I got this CD. Rock on, Bill!

I live in New Zealand and purchased this last year from this site - possibly only copy in New Zealand. Has had a thrashing since purchasing - great CD. Thanks Bill
There are no words to express just how good this album is!!!!
author: EdThis CD, simply put, is just REAL ROCK & ROLL!!! Bill's remarkable voice along with real strings and back up singers produce a sound that reminds us of what Rock and Pop was meant to be.
