Sneaking into your pants like molasses with an attitude, Big Sir is a soulful, solid groove smorgasbord complimented with toy box nuance and subtle sonic humor. Seamlessly flowing from girl-group influenced harmonies and handclaps, to smokin' a fatty on a warm sunny day while cruising in a Cadillac toe tappers, Big Sir will win both you and your mother over.
Big Sir sauntered into the neighborhood when singer Lisa Papineau and bass player John Alderete discovered they both shared a taste for the mellow side of rock and roll while playing together in a band called Pet, who were on Tori Amos' label, Igloo Records.
When Pet split up, they began writing slo-fi hip movers that not only stood on their own, but were easily adaptable to the dance moves they had picked up after years of touring and playing in Los Angeles clubs. Immediately after they began performing live, they found that they were being stalked by drummers, who would salivate as they stood in the audience bobbing their head in time to the drum machine.
It wasn't long before Lisa and John found the perfect drummer in Troy Zeigler, a talented beat keeper who understood exactly what Big Sir was trying to convey musically and whose mix of electronic and organic drumming style added just the right tasty flavor to the tunes.
Their self-titled debut CD is available now on Mootron Records (brainchild of Lisa's former Sissy Bar band-mate, Courtney Holt). Look out for special mix lean by Micky Petralia, whose recent credits include co-production of the Beck "Midnite Vultures" album.
Other highlights include viola work by Heather Lockie of Leather Hyman, backing vocals by the fellows of The Green and Yellow TV, and a guest appearance track featuring guitar fancy pants Josh Hagen of The Elevator Drops.

This dreamy pop band brings you remixed intrepetations of their songs as well as a some new ones. Remixers include Dan the Automator (Gorillaz), Justin Melden-Johanson (Air, Beck), and Mickey P (Eels, Beck). Have some fun comparing the songs on their self-titled album (also here at CDbaby) to these tracks. Its pretty interesting what another creative mind in the mix can do.

This cd will make your dreams come true
author: Amy Ketchum
It is Christmas time, your boyfriend just handed you the first Big Sir CD and you send him home early so you can absorb every tune without any interruptions. Three days later, you awake from your euphoric music dreamscape to the ringing of the telephone. "Where have you been? I have been calling for 3 days!" he says. "Oh, I must have gotten wrapped up in this Big Sir CD; with the milky slick bass and emotional vocals, how could I ever put it down?". He tells you he has something that will make you put it down but you do not believe him and you hang up the phone. This goes on for about a week. The following morning around 3am, you arise from your slumber to an angelic voice singing a Jeff Buckley tune. "Could it be? New Big Sir music?", you ask yourself aloud. In the middle of the highway you see your boyfriend with boombox in hand yelling,"I tried to tell you!". The more he plays of the cd, you realize it is a compilation of remixes of the songs you love so much. All of your neig
