A little background...
The Big House Blues Band offers a combination of diversified musicians working to serve a blend of classic blues and blues-rock with a distinct sound that combines elements of ZZ Top, Muddy Waters, Gary Moore, Maria Muldaur and Eric Clapton with the Blues Brothers!

Members of the Big House Blues Band have collaborated musically for over 20 years. The Big House Blues Band itself is the morphed result of a number of blues bands that were formed by "Big Daddy" Doug and Jimi Ray since 1986!

The combination of musicianship and genuine friendship between the individual members of the group produces an incredible level of tightness in their music and a camaraderie between members - something rarely heard of in these days of "American Idol" and manufactured bands.

The group is graced with a number of “multi-musicians”, opening a vast and nearly unlimited number of possibilities within the group as their CD “We Knew Them When…” has proven.

. . . “I listened to your CD on advice of www.rootstime.be
. . . and I must say ‘wow, great sound, vocals and songs’.
. . . Keep up the good work… please come play in Belgium
. . . soon.” - El Grande

The group contains a number of songwriters and composers and is currently working on a compilation of original music intended to be their second CD release.

The Big House Blues Band is looking forward to treating you with a mixture of Blues and Blues Rock to keep your feet tapping and your voice humming.

. . . “Your Muskegon gig at the Alley was A W E S O M E !!
. . . Totally enjoyed it. Well done. And Jane Your vocals were
. . . Killer! Looked like you didn't even have to work at it!
. . . (just natural I guess) KUDOS to all Thanks for a great
. . . night of the blues” – John Aman

(Translated from Dutch) ...If you like to listen to blues classics, then you certainly must buy this CD. With this disc, the Big House Blues Band has succeeded in making a great collection of songs from many big name artists. One of the strengths of this band is the fact that 5 of the 6 members sing lead with nice voices. [Ed. - we are actually a 9 piece band.] Furthermore, each member has mastered his instrument thoroughly. Opening with a cover of the very well known song "Gimme Some Lovin'" by Spencer Davis and Steve Winwood, I am immediately overwhelmed by the beautiful voice of Jane Bassett, a class vocalist with a sound as big as a house. It would be absurd to name all 18 songs here one after the other, but I want to list some titles for you. What do you think about "La Grange", "Chain Of Fools", "I'm Easy", "Hey Bartender"? Indeed, among others, you get songs written by ZZ Top, Don Covay and Billy Field to name a few. One of the reasons that this band and their sound stands as big as a house is the fact that some of the members have played together for about 20 years. This and the fact that several of the musicians can play more than one instrument naturally creates many possibilities. I am astonished that these men and lady have taken so long to release a CD. But I say "better late than never". I am convinced that this band does very well in America as they certainly would at many festivals here in Europe. For lovers of good Chicago and Texas blues, I can only say "BUY!" - Blueswalker - www.rootstime.be
