notes

Big Coffin Hunters is an original four-piece hard rock band from Portland, ME with a classic sound built from dueling guitars, thundering drums, and catchy vocal hooks. Take your classic 80’s metal, your 90’s grunge, add a sardonic twist and you have the music of BCH. You’ll get a brain-full of social commentary in a catchy chorus shot out of a guitar amplifier. Think Judas Priest vs. Fu Manchu, or Danzig vs. Motorhead. It’s a jumble of influences with one clear result: rock n’ roll!
BCH started as a quartet in May of 2005 and began playing the regular circuit of Southern Maine music venues in the Portland / Lewiston areas. By branching out into New Hampshire and Northern Maine, BCH received positive press and opened for national acts such as guitarist Gary Hoey. With the release of their debut E.P. “Platinum Hinges for Pine Boxes,” BCH is garnering a presence in local music stores, online music sites, and iTunes.
The BCH live show is all about playing to the audience. The band wants the audience to participate and have fun, because they are playing for YOUR enjoyment. Live performances are where this band shines as they bring a love of camaraderie, swagger, energy, and loud rock music.

  • One of the best original bands out of Portland that I've heard in the last 10 ye

It's about time a band stepped up and played some hard rock. Big Coffin Hunters are excellent musicians and don't need to hide behind a lot of "effects" to sound good. I really like who they use a stripped down sound. Hopefully they burry all the Nu-metal bands that are so abundant in New England. This 5 song EP is ballsy! It hasn't come out of my car stereo since I made the purchase.

  • Kick ass tunes, love the guitars!

Where to start. These guys have a cool thing going. Powerful drums and bass player who can stay in the pocket. The guitars are where it's at for me. They don't have to tune down and use huge amounts of distortion to acheive a great sound and they can pull off some gnarly solos. It's also refreshing to hear a vocalist that doesn't sound like Cookie Monster and sings about how mommy and daddy didn't hug him enough. Undoubtably original and hard rock! 5 stars! G

  • BCH= the real deal!
