notes
Here's what 'Dirty Linen' magazine said about this CD:
Look out! It's an American/Celtic band that doesn't take itself seriously! And truth be told, they've got a gimmick, too, in Tim Whittemore's didjuridu and tuba. I guess he's the "big blow" and, with the didg's Australian roots, the rest of the lads are the Bushwackers. The Bushwackers may have their fun with the playing, but they're wide-ranging musicians, tackling about 50 instruments between them, including the expected bodhran, mandola and flute and the unexpected steel drum, crumhorn and musical saw. They even make their own instruments, such as the funky diva, which is made of a banjo string, a juice can and some cut beachwood.
With the unique instrumentation, the band's renditions of trad stalwarts such as 'Kilgerry Mountain' and 'Dido, Bendigo' are spirited, lusty and full of an off-the-cuff, street corner charm. Overall, this disc will likely make you want to catch the 'wackers at your local pub.

If you like Celtic Folk this will knock your socks off
author: LouiseWe are long time Big Blow fans, but the Celtic traditional stuff isn't our favorite. As a result, we enjoyed this CD, (Big Blow NEVER fails to entertain and offer a fresh perspective to everything they perform), but perhaps not as much as some of their earlier recordings. There's also one really disturbing song on there with women being burned at the stake and men getting their hands and feet cut off. I know its a traditional song, but I had to cut it out when I put this album on my ipod. It created WAY too disturbing mental images for me!

Great Album
author: adamaWonderful music. This album is great to listen to almost on every occassion. It is calm and beautiful yet it has an unexplainable edge..definately check it out.
Freaking awesome
author: ThorThe vocals and the dijuridu (sp?) combine to make this unique album a great buy. Hints of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, for comparison. Celtic Funk? Bring on more of it!
This ain't no Riverdance. Rejoice!!!
author: Neal BrooksAhhh... the calm, soothing, haunting melodies of Celtic musi- WHOA! This stuff is like smelling salts for your ears. Enya with a pulse? Forget the Enya and just imagine the PULSE. Put away those tip-toe tapping Scottish dancing shoes and strap on some heavy, muddy, floor-stomping boots, or just stomp barefoot in the mud. This stuff is earthy, worldly, tribal, evoking of primal urges with the droning of Tim Whittemore's Didjuridoo playing, centered amongst traditional Celtic instrumentation as well other musical influences from cultures far, far away. I've got this CD and you are missing out not being able to hear the tracks `Please the Ploughboy', `Sawney Bean', `Finnegan's Wake', or `Jug of Punch.' Still think it's not your cup of tea? Think of it as a double shot espresso.
