notes
Beth Schafer learned a big lesson when she won the 2006 American Idol Underground Faith Based competition. What was the lesson? That universality in songs is key. Beth's songs, although rooted in her Jewish upbringing resonated with an interfaith audience and won her fans of many backgrounds. An accomplished guitarist and writer, Beth is taking the country by storm with a band of seasoned pros; spreading a "feel good" that doesn't rely on religious dogma or have religious boundaries. If you believe in God, trust in the potential of humanity and want to bring about an era of peace, AND if you love upbeat, well-produced contemporary rock, THIS CD IS FOR YOU!
Beth has played both mega-churches and synagogues, she has even played at center court for the Orlando Magic. She has graced folk festivals and national religious conferences. Schafer and her band are the real thing. As an artist, Beth stands out in clear contrast to the average folk singer, or the follow-the-latest-trend band. Her music enjoys airplay on many faith-based stations. "Build That Bridge," unites her with veteran rocker, Larry Hoppen of the band, Orleans (and the voice of the hit "Still the One"). They co-wrote and performed the title track with hopes that they could help build bridges between communities willing to begin or sustain a dialogue. Beth firmly believes that music can make things happen that can't happen comfortably around a conference table. She enjoys every opportunity she gets to share her magic with anyone on a journey toward understanding, tolerance and peace.

A great listen
author: LoriI started to listen to "Build that Bridge" and could not stop. So much so that I have just ordered all the past CD's of Beth's and also purchased a copy of Build that Bridge for a friend's birthday that is in the near future. Lev b Lev especially touched my heart. It is also nice to know that behind the absolutely beautiful voice is a beautiful person. I thank Beth for sharing, with the rest of us, her wonderful talent!
Fantastic CD!
author: BhaymesThis is an exceptionally well-produced album, with excellent lyrics. Beth has a brought an excellent groove to her message and the band is outstanding!
best new CD of the year- bar none...doesnt get better than this!
author: kewlju.com..I believe this to be the best new CD of the year! The craftsmanship that went into this was obviously painstaking- but the zeal to get it really right was obvious from the opening of track 1. The mix was perfect on every track, the rhythms were infectious, the voices crystal clear and the orchestrations of each piece were perfectly pieced together. It was great to hear Larry Hoppen's (Orleans) voice as counterpoint to Beth's wonderful expressive voice. I heartily recommend this CD, buy one for yourself and give one as a gift..they will love ya for it (and you will love urself!.lol)
Immediate reaction
author: Brad HymanI'm a self-proclaimed purist when it comes to Beth and her music. I could listen to just her and the guitar all day and all night. It would be so easy to settle for that, but I would also be limiting her creative potential by only encouraging her to write for solo guitar. Beth's music is so powerful in every format, guitar and with full band, and with this new album I'm really beginning to see the light on this issue. The new songs are amazing, and her union of minds with Larry Hoppin is freakin' awesome (can I say that here?)! So, dayeinu! It would have been enough to put on the new stuff, with a repeat of the old stuff, but NO! Beth doesn't stop there! She keeps on giving with newly interpreted visions of songs already treasured by so many! What a great way to spend a Thursday, or any day! So, faithful readers, keep listening, keep supporting live and recorded music, and to Beth: Bless you in everything you do. You make it so easy for us to do what we do with every note.
