notes
Beth Wimmer traverses a panoramic emotional palette with her gut-felt songs of humanness, hope, painful honesty, love-lost-and-found, and personal and spiritual redemption – and with a sense of humor. Her music and style vibrates within the unique family of Americana - embracing alt-country, indie-rock, and folk music.
Wimmer’s sound is edgy and progressive, while remaining intimate and vulnerable. Her songs are free spirited but straight to the point, with independent, savory vocals. Beth and her uber-able band navigate a course through their own particular brand of blue-eyed soul, country-tinged folk, and completely unique musical odes celebrating human setbacks overwhelmed by soulful transformation.
“Beth Wimmer has a visually attractive product (Live Within Live Without) that’s as warm and earthy as her music. Most striking is this performer’s hearty, folk-informed voice, complemented by violin and B3 organ. Wimmer sings effectively about self-realization (“Move On”) and even gets psychedelic on the album’s title track, “Live Within Live Without”… ~Music Connection
"Live Within Live Without is brand new to Preying Lizard Music and upon the first listen I'm hooked. This is a fantastic CD and Beth is a great vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter.” ~Les Lewellyn, Preying Lizard Music.com
The band and records are graced with favorite L.A. based musicians: Producing Wimmer's records and on all things drums is the renowned David Raven. Raven has shared tracks and stages with Mike Ness, Nancy Sinatra, Norah Jones, Jewel, Meat Puppets, Mojo Monkeys, and Anne McCue. The solid, lulling bass lines are provided by Taras Prodaniuk (Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakum, Michelle Shocked). The soundscapey, tasteful Billy Watts (Eric Burdon, Bonnie Raitt, Dixie Chicks, Carlene Carter) is a mood-enhancing drug on electric guitar. Insightful keys and atmosphere courtesy of Danny McGough (Tom Waits, Social Distortion).
Incensed by intolerance, moved by beauty, Wimmer says some of her inspirations in her music and life are… “My travels and people, other countries’ stories, Amnesty International, the practice of complete and unsafe Love, blissful states of mind…utter distress…all kinds of music and musicians, artists and their art, families, languages…communication, um…weather, water, trees, sugar, and vegetables…and baking. To name a few…”
“Wimmer unleashes painterly-like observations packaged amidst some of the catchiest hooks this side of Elvis Costello...” ~Thomas Reilly, Primerica Music Review
Her roots run deep throughout the northeast coast of the U.S., but now Wimmer is a natural west coast transplant. Intoxicated with rock & roll at a very early age, Beth was captivated and utterly inspired - and her favorite music and musicians have shaped and flavored her life: Neil Young, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams, Pretenders, Police, Tracy Chapman, Aimee Mann, Elliott Smith...
All senses are heightened while taking in Beth Wimmer's sung experience - a heart sung outward, a woman doing what she loves best.
“Wimmer really cut loose and let her freedom and joy shine forth. With this energy, her show scope morphed to include FUN in the experience. Wimmer especially connected on the title track from her CD, LIVE WITHIN LIVE WITHOUT, where atmospheric touches massaged a haunting lyrical story that was soothingly and beautifully captivating.” ~Kevin Wile, Genghis Cohen Live Review

The Real Deal
author: Charles I. DurginEarthy yet spiritual without preaching, this is honest music made with heart and professionalism. Please do not plan on bumming out while listening, and do not expect to be clobbered with sugar either. Very nice, very good.

Destined for greatness in music.
author: Julian MossWOW! What an extremely impressive and professional CD this is. The quality of Beth's soothing voice is matched only by her ability as a great lyricists. The songs are eclectic in range as they are in tempo and are all very well produced. With this only her second album I beleive Beth has truly arrived on the music scene and is destined to make a lasting impact and have a wide audience of admirers like myself.
LWLW is one of our favorite cd's, my kids know all the words,..
author: Janine HayesIt's such warm, fun music and her voice has such a beautiful soothing tone. My kids love when I play it, they immediately start singing along and dancing to it. They know all the words and I love hearing their little voices sing her lyrics, so heart felt, really something special.
The intimacy and feel of the album...just blew me away!
author: Stephen Marsh - Threshold Sound + VisionI must say – I REALLY like this record. Most of the time when I master I get pretty analytical with the music and can’t always hazard a creative judgement as to the songs and production. I listened to the whole thing one evening a couple weeks ago front to back and was really blown away by the overall intimacy and feel of the album. Not that I wasn’t expecting it to be great – It just blew me away. Beth has captured something special with this album and should be very proud. I’m really glad I had the opportunity to work on it. -------------------------- Stephen Marsh, Chief Mastering Engineer, Threshold Sound + Vision, smarsh@thresholdsound.com, www.thresholdsound.com
