notes
Bob Mayo toured and recorded with Peter Frampton, Aerosmith, Foreigner, Robert Plant, Dan Fogelberg, and Hall and Oates. Bergers with Mayo was where he got to cut loose. Tragically, he died of a heart attack on Monday, February 23rd, 2003 while touring with Peter Frampton's band in Basel, Switzerland. He was 53. He sure is missed.
Bob was unique. He could sit at a keyboard and blast through hours of music calling tunes, singing and leading the band, and at any moment stand up and grab a guitar and rip through another set of songs with finesse equal to any of the greats. We were honored and lucky to play with him. It was in the small clubs and not on the big stages where you really got to hear the extent of Bob's truly huge talent.
This is really Bob's CD. It features mostly Bob's own songs, some recorded for this album, some reworked from demos he started in his basement studio.
Bob's sidekicks on this CD, The Berger Brothers, Ted Hemberger on drums and Al Hemberger on bass and vocals, played with him for many years. Ted worked with him in several bands even before Bob did the legendary Frampton Comes Alive tour. Al and Ted have made a name for themselves recording and playing throughout the Northeast. They own and operate The Loft Recording Studios in Bronxville, New York, hosting such artists as Rihanna, NSYNC, Southside Johnny, Kelly Clarkson, Procol Harum, Richard Shindell, Robin Trower, Dave Koz, and The Skatalites to name a few.
Like a live Bergers with Mayo gig, "In Real Time" offers a bountiful buffet of satisfying musical flavours: Rock, R&B, Country, Pop, AC. Sample and enjoy them all. Hungry for more? Search out The Renovators. It's Bergers with Mayo plus guitarist/buddy Bob Rasero. Also very satisfying!
