notes
Stephen Berg's first album, this disc was a breakthrough in thoughtful, progressive Christian music. Not content to just write praise songs, Stephen explores the darker side of life from the homeless in "Let Them In" to how prayer reconciles pain in "I Call Out Your Name." Relationships are explored in the live track "Not About Me," and there is a nice love song for his wife with "I Wait For You."
Like most first albums, Stephen had his entire life to write it, and these are a collection of songs recorded between 1989-1997. These are the songs of a man searching for answers, and finding comfort in God's love.
Previously released in cassette format, these recordings were carefully remastered by Ted Ward of TRW Productions. The simple, straightforward approach by Stephen belies his rock, pop, and folk influences. The other live track on the album is "Nothing I Can Do," recorded live at Rock Rapids Christian Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
In this his first release, Stephen has brought forth a beautiful testimony of a maturing faith and spirituality.
