notes
Benjamin Warren was born in Michigan and spent his early years there before moving to New York City. After High School he formed the band ‘What's Up’ with several friends and began touring the Tri-State area. Signed to a "major" label they began recording an album never to be released. When the group broke up he formed his own project, ‘Flies of the Marketplace.’
He recently completed ‘Famous’ - a solo album a year in the making and worth it’s weight in Kobe beef. It should secure him a studio apartment in the pop kingdom.
”My most memorable gig?’, he muses. “Have to be the time my amp came ungrounded, everytime I came up to sing I’d get a shock that made me jump like a ballerina. People started throwing things at me screaming ‘Dance, boy, dance!’ I finally left the stage when a redneck at the bar started shooting at my feet.”
Sipping a glass of white Bordeaux he says, "In conclusion I believe we forge our own destiny out of free will but can never know the huge grand scheme of things. We shape our lives on a small level seemingly attaining some sort of control over our destiny. But when you see something like an earthquake knock out 30,000 people you lose the belief in complete self-determination. Dont you? That said I'd rather labor under the false pretense that I in some way affect my end than to know the god awful truth. That God is dead and that we are all beasts in the wild chaos."

Strong Album
author: John PapazianListened to the CD yesterday. All the tracks are very good, the best being "Famous" "Black and White" "Let it Out" "The Long Grift" , and "God is a Girl". I remember hearing "God is a Girl" on the "What's Up Show" where you're all singing it accapella going down into the subway. It's funny because I thought at the time that you were singing some terrific old classic that I had never heard of. I had no idea where it came from until I saw the credit for it on the CD. That one, along with "Famous" and "Black and White" are the best on the album. A couple of things need to be changed, though. The lyrics for "Fiend" are missing, which is unfortunate. There is an error in the lyrics for "Black Bean" where the lyrics say: "It's Tangerine" and you sing "She's coming clean". The order of the songs is incorrect on the back. The correct order is: 1. Famous 2. Black Bean 3. Fiend 4. Five and Dime 5. Let it Out 6. Black and White 7. Broken Girl 8. The Long Grift 9. God is a Girl 10. Matter of Time Minor considerations, since this is such a strong album, but I think you might want to look into it. Thanks again for the CD, John Papazian.
