Progressive-Indie-Folk-Rock with an undying passion for naked authenticity.

notes

Driven by the simple desire to create music representing the authentic human experience, Ben Thomas weaves together elements of Folk, Indie and Progressive Rock music with an unforgettable sense of melody that leaves the listener hungry for more. After writing and performing his songs in Chicago-area coffeehouses and clubs for nearly 10 years, the 26-year old Thomas has finally released his first full-length studio album, The Recovery.

"I'm thrilled about how it turned out," Thomas explains, "it sort of steps out of the speakers and grabs you. It's definitely got the intensity I was going for when I started the project...some songs are all out loud rock and roll; some are so subdued it's deafening... pretty dynamic."

The Recovery refuses to be categorized. Musically, it is both nostalgic and progressive. Lyrically, it engages the listener in discussions about faith, hope, joy, and the complete lack thereof. It is a 14-song collection that needs to be experienced.

Sit for a while. Listen loud.

  • Grabs, rattles and provokes!!
    author: DJ DENEEN

From the opening track, the Thomas Band evokes a process which remains undefined..... visceral, earthy, yet fresh and stirring. Ben continues to amaze and bring a maturity to alternative, folk/rock music. Listen through it all and appreciate a true talent of our time!

  • Thomas puts out solid first solo album

With overly produced albums being the normal in today's music industry, comes along a CD that goes completely contrary to the idea. Ben Thomas has proven that the music that hits you the hardest doesn't have to be 'picture perfect' at all - in fact, it is the fundamentals of talented musicianship and creative, honest, thought provoking lyricism that will do the trick every time. Currently as an audio engineer, I hear recordings day in and day out, including the music I've purchased myself. However, there is one CD that will always remain in my CD Changer for me to listen to - and that is Thomas' 'The Recovery' because it always brings me back to where i know that the music and the person behind it are completely real. This CD is his head and his heart put down in song, and no matter how much production goes into it, nothing will ever be better than that.
